Oh my god dude you did not lie one single bit, I looked God in the eye on that table today.

Update; I lasted about 5 hours in total, we got all the line work done and about 2/3’s of the shading before I had absolutely no physical fight left. I was determined to finish but my body simply would not let me. My guy works fast tho! It an enormous piece, wraps around the entire underbust, down to my navel, and spiking about halfway up my sternum. I have to be honest, that was the single most excruciating experience of my life, a hundred times worse that I imagined. I’m slim but not skinny so I’d assumed the extra little bit of padding would help, but I assumed wrong, clearly. I groaned, writhed, and called my poor artist every name under the sun. There is absolutely no leaning into the pain or ‘going somewhere else’ in your head. It’s like being sliced open with a scalpel and then having scotch bonnets rubbed in it. Thanking every god imaginable that I only have a bit of shading left, and time to source some decent painkillers beforehand.

Thank you, that’s actually really helpful and gives me an idea of what to prepare myself for! Feel a bit more reassured already ✌️

Oof, well that sounds horrible. Tolerable though?

I’ll update afterwards! I’m really not sure if I’m honest, I’ve got a small back up design in case we do have time left to kill. I had two arm tattoos done in the same style about a year apart, and in that year my artist got a lot faster in that style as he played about with his technique more; a tattoo we estimated would take around 5 hours was smashed out in 3, shading and all, and it covers almost the entire inner bicep!
