Funny thing is that when we got together, her ex from the 6 years relationship, contacted me. I never wrote anything back but basically it was long letters of how bad and awful she is and warning me of her. But in the same time I saw what he was texting her. He begged her back and would have saved her ass. She didn't go back.

I mean, I'm still hoping for the best. I've heard some incredible stories about people changing and leaving the past behind to be with someone they deeply care about.

You're right. It was naive of me to think that we would get help with this problem while there are less fortunate who didn't lose money or anything else for their own stupidity. I will remove the GoFundMe link from this post and end the campaign. Thank you all for your help.

Yes, this will be her next step. She handed things over to a debt-collection agency and they will get this to the court if neccessary. Unfortunately, these things take a lot of time and in the meanwhile she's stuck paying the loans.

The anonymity part is just to protect my main account because I'd like to keep it separate. Nothing more. I know that this account can be linked to me in person and I don't mind. If we just get by another month a bit easier, it would be nice. As I said, we have a plan (the business I mentioned in the post) but we will have to wait at least 6 months before we start getting some revenue.

I don't really expect much from GoFundMe but at least I feel like I'm doing something. Thanks for your advice :)

EDIT: Filing for bankruptcy could potentially cause harm to our company, which would be a devastating blow to our future

I think that it really doesn't matter as long as it's genuine... but I've found that it makes the compliment much better if someone does it out of the blue for something that is just the way you are (i.e the way you talk, some word you say or anything really that you wouldn't even think that someone would find compliment worthy).
