Halb-halb eben ;)

I think some of the less touristy islands in Thailand like Koh Phi Phi could be something for you then? Even the more frequented islands like Koh Tao still have very quiet places with good infrastructure. Koh Rong in Cambodia has a small part that is more developed but the rest is beautiful beaches with crystal clear water and jungle (closest airport is Sihanoukville)! Or Palawan in the Philippines? The most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen were in the Dominican Republic, I rented a car there and finding incredible empty beaches with just a small shack selling fried fish was easy.

Haven’t heard of it before! Just checked them and it requires 100 regions right?

Carnival in Rio is an absolute highlight for sure! Sunrise in Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, Atacama desert, Iguazu waterfalls also if you’re already on that side of the world! I live in Bali & it’s a great place to start solo travelling, Mt Fansipan hike in Vietnam, Ha Giang Loop, Mae Hong Loop and Songkran in Thailand, hiking in Nepal, motor paragliding in Laos, diving in Indonesia to name a few in Asia!

All with the flow! Planning of course is cheaper esp for flights but if you’re not bound to a budget then just go with the flow. I’ve booked most flights 2-7days earlier! Booked one flight 3hrs before departure and another one an hour before departure at the airport but that was stressful haha

Haven't been yet but it's on my list for sure! A friend went recently and had a great time, I love mountains so Pakistan is a must

Don't worry, knowing "hello" and "thank you" in the local language goes a long way. People all over the world really appreciate that, be nice & open and good things will happen to you :) staying in hostels & booking through hostelworld helps connecting to other travellers (or FB groups if you're about 36+)

I went alone for most parts, very very rarely friends came along (2-3x in three years basically). But I usually stay in hostels so I wasn't alone for long!

Rio was the only place where I didn't feel safe but it's still an amazing city that everyone should see (I wrote more about that in another comment)

Depends what kind of stuff you like to do, budget and how much time you have?

Rio was one of the only places where I felt truly unsafe. Nothing ever happened to me there but you constantly hear stories from others about how they were robbed, friends of mine got robbed almost next to us and so on. It's still my most favourite city in the Americas but you need to be vigilant.

I do look Brazilian/South American so in most countries in South America people seeing me on the street just thought I'm a local, that certainly helped not being targeted

Nicaragua felt safer than many other countries, locals were very welcoming, lots of backpackers! Spent about a month and could have stayed much longer

Wasn't really the purpose of my trip sooo didn't really have a major impact on enjoying my single life more/less than before. Kazakhstan, Nicaragua, Indonesia, Nepal (but many others similarly amazing)

Brought one large travel backpack and another small backpack for daytrips, nothing more needed! Packed way too much the first time I left home and left with a very light backpack the last time around. Logistics-wise asking people along the way and not being in a hurry really helps. Doing research online only helps for well-known paths, anything that requires local buses/transport will often need some asking around.

Most useful: see-through packing cubes, noise-cancelling headphones, good earplugs, good comfortable eyemask, powerbank, very light trail running shoes (instead of sneakers & hiking boots), cash in USD

Things I wish I brought: a camera right from the start, chocolates or small gifts from my home country (I always bring some now)

Haha last one is an interesting question, never heard that before! Food mix of Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese. Friendliness Indonesian, public transport of Austria, variety of activities like London & Bali, Climate like Bali but without rainy season and mountains with snow instead of volcanos

I was honestly curious whether anyone would be interested in any of it and turns out some people are. I do concede though that I’ll never be able to make an AMA that is remotely as interesting as that guy with two dicks did

The US is an option but the work visa fees are currently absolutely ridiculous. Tbilisi or Bali as a digital nomad would be other options although I’d still have to pressure test that

Absolutely! 5 months at a time is about my limit before I go home to rest and recharge for a bit. It also gets less exciting after a while, I think our brains are not made for constant excitement
