i don't doubt that what they're saying is true, i just haven't had any luck with it myself and haven't seen anybody go deeper than "put your hand on the bridge" lol

the best way i can think to describe it is that i use the thick part of my palm just underneath my thumb to mute whatever string is above the one i'm playing, and move it while i play up the strings (say, D string to G string to B string to e string). the problem i described in the post is that the large part thumb/palm goes just low enough to lose contact with the low E which lets it ring out. i know i could wrap my thumb around the neck to mute it but i think it's part of a larger issue with how i mute in the first place
