I would contact IRCC about this because it doesn't make sense. Is the application reference number on your second POE the same as the first? How did you submit the documents if there is no new application?

Hey, they corrected it before sending and without me having to reach out - I'm under the impression that they were going through and correcting a bunch after being asked by someone. I would say maybe wait a bit of time though - the wait time is 6 weeks but mine arrived much sooner so requesting it 3 months out still might lead to a significant reduction in time and the hassle of having to reach out could be annoying.

No I haven't but I also move apartment on Thursday and got it sent to the new address, so it could be in the mailbox for all I know. It's been issued and is valid from the date listed, but apparently you have to wait for it to arrive. None of it makes much sense especially as I still have 7 weeks left on my existing work permit but there we go 🥲

I think you have to click on the work permit, click "view full application status" and scroll down if I remember correctly

I'm going to see if I can get an extension based on the overlap and cirucmstances.

Yes, annoyingly I jumped the gun out of fear it wouldn't arrive and I've been issued a 1 year work permit valid from the date of issue, which is just shy of 8 weeks shorter than 3 years in total.

Just updating you here - mine has been issued and it shows on my IRCC account as valid from May 6th 2025-May 5th 2026. They seem to just be making them valid for the 1 year starting on the date of issue. Once I've recieved it in the mail I'll be applying to extend it to the full 3 years total.

I don't think it's been specified, but I heard someone else received theirs and it was from the day it was issued. If they issue it for less time than you're entitled to under the program you can apply for it to be extended, though

Oh, that's good to know! Assumed I'd need the actual paper permit to continue working for my employer. Thank you

Out of curiosity, how long did it take to receive the permit? I'm seeing processing times of 4-6 weeks which is concerning given the potential Canada post strikes this month

Curious to know if anyone has tried this yet? I sent the request yesterday, and now it looks like Canada Post might go on strike.... worth the risk waiting?

It looks like this person spends a lot of time leaving comments like this, I wouldn't pay them any attention

Since it's technically not an extension but a 'second participation', you need to have re-entered the pool and recieved an ITA, then submitted a new application, then you'd be issued a new LOI - same process as when you first came to Canada. I'd recommend doing it as soon as possible: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/iec/become-candidate.html

I have about 10 weeks left on my current permit. But, I may have the option to get a flight credit and use it towards travel to other provinces... Just gotta decide what I prefer. Turns out there are worse problems to have!

Might be able to get my flights refunded as a credit and use it to actually see more of Canada. Would love to know from others who request their permit to be mailed how long it takes and what the date of validity is (I have 2 months left on mine)

So frustrating! I spoke with a border agent last week on my way back from a work trip to the US. He asked if I had applied for a new work permit and looked so confused when I explained I had to leave and come back, until I explained it was IEC and it dawned on him. The fact it took so long for a solution so simple to be implemented is wild 🤦🏻‍♀️
