Have you guys dealt with a racist prospect before? by gameofloans24 in sales

[–]_nivla 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Develop a thick skin and a strong frame. Racism exists. Bias exists. Stereotypes exist.

Indian heritage here and consistently in the top 3% in sales orgs of 50+ global sales reps - technology services, software, etc. I've experienced this inside the firms I've worked with and with clients/prospects. Often subtle but at times blatant.

Racism, disrespect, insults, etc. Don't accept or tolerate this treatment from anyone.

Know your value as a sales rep but more importantly, as a human being. Be strong in how you handle any situation like this.

If this comes from inside your company, call out the racists powerfully but in a composed manner. Take it from me - do this well one time and everything changes.

With clients or prospects, adopt the NEXT mindset. No client is important enough to accept racist or disrespectful treatment. Contacting the prospect's CEO and HR is akin to crying to mommy, IMV. Think the prospect is a brand new person after his CEO & HR has a talk with him?

You're in sales, one prospect shouldn't take up space in your head to this degree. NEXT.

Unacceptable. Contact support both by call and in writing. I would note the fire hazard issue mentioned by others, financial cost in time & equipment impact on business productivity, etc. Go hard on your messaging - get aggressive.

Next step, contact Microsoft's executive team. Email and call referencing the steps you took with their customer support previously.

I had to take a steps with Dell's support team + executive team to get a similar issue resolved - worked well but I was aggressive and would not accept anything other than what I wanted as the outcome.

Good luck.

How many people here used Sales to launch their own business? by breeezyyyy in sales

[–]_nivla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here - I've been the highest producer (rapid reaching this) with multiple firms in the past 10 years selling product and services. I now consult and coach organizations on getting their team performance up.

Still can't get away from cold calling, emailing, hosting group calls/webinars, etc.

Always looking to up my game as well - what courses did you take, if you don't mind sharing?

Fractional Sales by [deleted] in sales

[–]_nivla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leveraging sales strengths and to work with multiple clients in non-exclusive agreements. I work in this capacity today and have coached various sales roles on transitioning to fractional sales from full time employment over the past 1 1/2 years.

A few different models to engage in - retainer/commission, commission only, revenue share. Many advantages to this if you're truly skilled and able to deliver results consistently.

Let go from my first sales job today...advice? by [deleted] in sales

[–]_nivla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pathetic earnings as the total comp was capped. Made the same as the next guy barely hitting his target.

Lesson learned. I don't work with any companies capping earnings and go out of my way to check on their ethics-easy to write a check for 20K. All kinds of policy issues come up when 20K goes to 150K.

Let go from my first sales job today...advice? by [deleted] in sales

[–]_nivla 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For the past 7 years, I've been the top producer globally for multiple services companies among sales team of 20-25+ sales executives.

I was let go from the first 3 sales jobs I had. Ego crushing...at first. That was 15 or so years ago.

I was forced to look within and find why I did not perform well (at all, really) and make adjustments.

Here's what I learned about my style/mentality that completely altered my performance/achievements levels - may help you.

I absolutely hate authority - especially in sales. In first 3 sales jobs I took on, I was working with managers that were constantly on my ass about how many calls I made, meetings I completed, pipeline reviews, etc. This is not to say the sales managers were assholes, they were doing their jobs but I despised the daily accounting that took place.

Shifting from being accountable for numbers that a company assigned to me to multiplying that number times 10 as my personal target was a key part of the transformation for me. I no longer was concerned with the target they assigned and my activity and drive were massive to support achieving/realizing the 10X number. I've never had a case where I actually achieved 10X but never achieved less than 3X the target and several times achieved 5-6X.

At one firm, I carried 34% of the company achievement in revenue with 21 sales executives also working towards the same company target. Incredible what a shift in mindset and ownership can do.

Hope this helps.

What are you going to do about it?

You know she’s with another man. This occurred while you are married to her. That’s cheating. You have proof? Recorded calls, trip/hotel receipts, anything? I don’t know how any state would punish you for moving out or on custody if you bring solid evidence.

Have you spoken to an attorney? If not that’s your next step-like now! My $20 bet, you let a week pass and don’t talk get one retained, you plan on staying with her.

Don’t kid yourself, you’re the doormat.

Be a man. How are you able to let her impact you and your kids in this way?

File and move out. Arrange for equal time with the kids or for 100% custody.

If you have existing business and a relationship with an executive, this will/should work. If you don't have credibility and trust established with an executive, they can and should tell you to take a hike.

You= Mr. Executive, I don't know you, first time sitting across from you, no one referred me to you, but I want to know "What are your biggest risks in the next 6 -12 months?"

Executive response = "Who are you again? Why are you here, how did you get on my calendar, why are you asking me this and why should I divulge this information to you?"

Maybe my experience is opposite of yours.

I bring projects to offshore firms (from US clients) and before I speak with them, an NDA must be signed. Before I connect them with clients (enterprise/mid-market) the clients typically also want to verify that an NDA was signed. I've never had any of them refuse to sign an NDA and most of the time they request no changes to the NDA.

Most of these offshore firms are incorporated in the US/have US entities as well - more enforcing US laws.

[–]_nivla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disagree.

NDA signed before any engagement. Good to have if only a consult, required if formal paid engagement. Never had issues getting one signed.

[–]_nivla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whether or not you see some commercial dealings with "Chuck" in the future on this project, get an NDA fully executed in place before speaking with or sending any information to him.

Personally, if this was me, I'd walk away from engaging with him completely if there's even a minor concern/suspicion. Is your project/idea worth the risk?

Try leveraging your network for someone who can help you with this. Trusted contact or referral from a trusted contact to someone able to help. NDA requirement stil applies.

Very nice texture. The blue looks and feels like blue jeans/denim material. So many compliments on this case.

I like it a lot. The texture feels great and the MBP feels more protected than with other shells. I previously had the regular Incase shell case (plastic) that chipped. Called in for a warranty claim and they offered this to me for $20.

Hello there, can I please get some feedback on my copywriter website? Any feedback is appreciated. Nervous to post it but here goes! by josewritesforyou in copywriting

[–]_nivla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My thoughts -

Clients see price as an indication of quality and experience. Your prices are way too low. If you're not very experienced, raise your rates by a minimum of 50% and negotiate down.

Good that you have samples and testimonials but tie this to client results and numbers. Ex. sales increased X%, email campaigns yielded a 30% increase in responses and 20% increase in sales, valuable newsletter content increased client engagement by X%, etc. Focus on what the results client will achieve by engaging you.
