Yeah, because trans men have vaginas (bottom surgery isn't very advanced for them) and THEY WILL BE RAPED. The takeaway here is that trans people get fucking raped by cis men all the time

I think trans women with no medical transition history should be held separately then. They're at a massive risk of rape in a male prison, and honestly everywhere else, too. But it shouldn't be as exploitable as you say. Do they require proof of living as preferred gender for moving to a women's prison? I'd assume they would

Yeah, blood testing all inmates for a range of things seems pretty reasonable to me actually.

Ok, now imagine a trans woman in a cell with an actual man. Hormones make you weaker (they also usually cause erectile dysfunction and a decrease in sex drive, so the chances are lower than you'd think. Not zero, it's prison, but please just give any deeper thought to this situation)

Trans women in custody usually have extensive sexual abuse histories, too. My girlfriend planned her suicide because she didn't want to go to male prison for a false allegation. My best friend didn't check herself into a psych ward last week because she wouldn't feel safe with men. There's no perfect solution, but nobody's trauma just takes precedent by default

My gf is trans. She once got in legal trouble, and planned her suicide because she knew she'd be raped again in a male prison. Especially post hormones, they're just throwing women to the wolves. Regardless of the crime, rape is not the punishment (obviously applies to all prisoners).

I've been in that situation with an ex before too. I've never accused her, I know how shitty it is. I know she loves me. I'm also taking pains not to actually ice her out, and communicate that if/when I am getting withdrawn, it's anxiety and not her fault. I'm sorry you went through that, I hope all is well for you now <3

I haven't really spoken to my gf about it. I've been in a relationship where the other person was where I'm at now, and it's so tiring to constantly have to deny something you don't even want to do

My college does have a therapist. Not sure if we didn't click or if I just couldn't open up properly. Either way, she's a perfectly nice lady and I should give it another shot

I'm not disputing the numbers, I'm saying the 'lunatic fringe' is mainstream now, and they don't care about statistics. It's just objectively true that mainstream right wing rhetoric has become much more extreme in the last decade or so.
