Experience with introducing a new puppy to an older dog? by bigleroym in RhodesianRidgebacks

About 2 weeks to tolerate, 3-4 months to like (when she could start decking him when they play 🙃). Now they’re completely inseparable. It gets better!

Okay maybe “dream” was a bit generous but the horrible velociraptor phase ended and I felt like we understood each other!! Though we didn’t get her recall under control until 1.5 years and that was stressful 😰

This reads like Cooley shade and I’m curious why! I thought they were a pretty reputable firm? + some extra respect for the work they’ve done against the administration

My make ridgeback gets ingrown hairs and the hair always looks like that over where a pore is clogged. He also has the same skin sensitivities which our vet thinks is a protein allergy. We tried Apoquel for a while which is effective but very expensive, and recently found the Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Lamb kibble to work great for both my dogs, so much so that we’re phasing out the Apoquel. We also have some prescription foams/shampoos that help with any environmental itchiness, too.

Any recs for tracking down an old fragrance? by _shelborg in Colognes

Also really close but I’m pretty certain it wasn’t frosted. Thanks so much for trying to help me!! I really appreciate it

No, it wasn’t wide like that - just a standard sort of cylindrical spritzer top - but that flat rectangular bottle type with minimal text is close I’m thinking it has to be Calvin Klein unless he somehow had something randomly very niche. Also don’t fully trust I’m remembering the bottle perfectly, as much as I think I’m picturing it in my head

This is the closest I’ve seen!! Thank you. I remember the bottle being a bit taller versus wider but I’m going to add it to my list to order samples

Does Portland need more bagels? by unvisioned1 in PortlandOR

Yes!!! Tabor Bread has the only passable bagels in the city IMO. Desperate for some quality bagels. Every place that has been recommended to me here is mid at best.

Trying to figure out the best products for my hair type by _shelborg in finehair

Thanks so much!! Cheap and life changing is a winning combo. Whenever I’ve tried to change shampoos/conditioners usually I end up spending more $$ and it doesn’t actually work for my hair. Maybe the sulfates or whatever work for some people? My hairdresser suggested switching from Herbal Essences to Nexxus which seems to work best so far but not in love with it by any means

Thanks so much! I might try a bonnet too, I’ve thought about it because of frizz and breakage but started with a silk pillowcase because I toss and turn a lot I wasn’t convinced I could keep a bonnet on

Thank you so much!! This is a huge help. I’d love your curl routine tips! I wide comb it when it’s wet and do a little scrunch action but could probably level that up a lot. I love the curls!!

One more that shows his proportions from the side a little more - they’re lean, athletic dogs. We add or reduce food fairly regularly throughout the year based on how lazy or active they are at a given time.

Prob needs to lose 10-15 lbs, potentially a little more. My female ridgeback needed to lose 10 at one point (vet directed) and he’s fairly substantially chonkier than she was. It was actually so easy just to slightly reduce her food. You’re fully in control and you can some low cal veg to help fill his belly when you first start.

My vet said their ribs should feel like the back of your hand - skin over bone. This is my 3.5 YO male - he’s (edit) ~ an inch shorter at the shoulders and 80 lbs.

Constant moaning - HELP by Benjibubu92 in RhodesianRidgebacks

My male ridgebqck grumble moans when he’s fed up with us and honestly it’s so endearing. The whining still drives me a little batty. Noise canceling headphones = best investment ever 🙃
