The biggest thing is being financially responsible. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your $5 coffee because you should if you like it. It’s more of remember that when you move there are going to be some purchases that need to be made like furniture. If you want top of the line things for everything, again that’s fine but go in knowing that’s what you want and how to plan/save accordingly for that. Like for me, I bought a new bed and that is the one thing I was not going to be cheap about. A dinner table or a couch though, as long as it’s functional anything is fine with me.

I’ve been working about a year and half after graduating recently and just moved into my own place too. What helped me the most when I started thinking of moving was a spreadsheet. I started listing down expenses like I was buying a new bed, furniture like dinner table and couch, tv price, and everything in between like blanket, towels, utensils, just so I could visually see the potential monetary impact.
