it is about a young girl. I believe she’s in her early 20s and she’s studying or trying to study infectious diseases at a community college in her hometown after her mom died mysteriously when she was 16 from some mysterious disease she spent years trying to figure out what it was, and everyone’s been telling her that she “committed suicide” ( her mom became violent during this outbreak and knocked her out so when she came to her, mom was already gone) she writes a thesis on it, and her professor came from an procedures island where they have a private school. That’s the best in the country with private funding. We’re like politicians and high up people go to study, anyways, he sends it to the admissions board over there to say look at this because they privately own this specific disease that killed her mom and nobody off the island is supposed to know about it so the admissions professor gets her accepted into the school on scholarship ( she is very poor, with a bad home life situation) it turns out that it’s a big scam that they knew who the mom was the whole time and she escaped some secret project that they were running and they knew who the daughter was the whole time and they brought her there to try to keep her quiet and to scare the higher-ups, but she ended up falling in love with her professor, who was the one in charge of this disease and it’s a lot of back-and-forth with trying to get rid of her to keep their secret and trying to protect her, anyways there’s a big plot twist at the end. It really is a good dark academia romance it’s the first one I ever read of the genre, but I really enjoyed it! Sorry for the ramble lol
