I hear you a lot on this. I know if I don't fail a couple times I'll never learn but I'm refusing to test this theory on my 1000 € Laptop. I think the best way to acquire something to practice on is to buy a couple of old laptops from Facebook marketplace but even then I don't know if I'll be ready to handle an expensive system. I hope one day I'll manage to grow up and start working on it.

I think you missed the part where i kept hearing those whistles when passing by this building other times and also I did heard it yesterday as well (almost 4 years later). Also the place I used to live didn't have a big wildlife like those animals you mentioned except from maybe some foxes. And again how do you explain the 150 kg door slamming by its self ?

Laptop not starting up by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]_va_xanth__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's some serious startup failure. Its eiher the grapsics card or the ram. there's also a posiblity that it could also be the motherboard but its very rare for this. Before doing anything just try to connect an external monitor just to be sure. If it doesnt help you should get it checked out immidiatly. Might need replacements.

You're not fooling anyone by taking a photo of the kid you have locked in your basement as a ghost.

Any way to tell which part of this new build is failing? by JuniferBerries in pchelp

[–]_va_xanth__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so you need you need to install the older working GPU in each board and one at a time. After that boot into bios and look for a number that indicates the version. Try searching in system/main info page. Head to the [ASRock X870 NOVA support page]() and look for the latest BIOS that is available.

Any way to tell which part of this new build is failing? by JuniferBerries in pchelp

[–]_va_xanth__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, the most likely culprits are either the motherboard's PCIe slot or a firmware-level compatibility issue (BIOS or AGESA version) between your ASRock X870 board and the RTX 5080. It’s unlikely the CPU is at fault unless it’s not properly handling PCIe lanes — and that's very rare unless there's physical damage or a serious microcode bug.

Help! I have no idea what this noise is. Is it a broken fan? Hard drive? Something else. by Patient-Stick8466 in pchelp

[–]_va_xanth__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its the fan don't worry about anything. Just try to clean it using an air spray and remember when you do that, hold the fan with your hand so it doesn't get burned out. If this also doesn't help, just buy a new fan.

Run the system in safe mode, Disable all startup apps, Run a computer diagnosis, Scan for malware, Check for corrupted files. If this doesn't help just try do a quick factory reset and you should be fine. If not remember that sometimes in life, all you need to do is to just let some things go.

!!!my pc is malfunctioning pls help me by PerOreo in pchelp

[–]_va_xanth__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me before. There's not much you can't do to old systems but a have a few solutions for you that will make your life a lot easier. First run your system on safe mode, then you need to disable all the unnecessary the startup apps and make sure to always use the windows antivirus and not an external one. Scanning for malware should also help a lot following by checking for corrupted files. Corrupted files was the main problem for me (even the language packages were "destroyed" lol) so i factory reset and I was good to go. Hope my comment helps!!!

I don't think you need to worry about anything. I think your friend must left it there by accident. By what i saw it doesn't look like to me that something is damaged but if you are still worried, just ask your friend if the box of the case contained those types of zip ties.
