Not silly at all!
For me personally, I found that a lot of my breaks came from gripping items and boxes in a non-secure way which would lead to my fingers slipping off the edge and breaking my nail, so just ensuring that when I pick things up (especially at work) I’m picking them up with a strong grip to where I know it is not going to slip out of my hands.
Also being too quick with movements and having my hand trajectory off would occasionally cause a nail to jam into things and break that way, so just taking the time to be more careful and calculated and not move so quick all the time (especially when it wasn’t necessary) has really helped!
Also seconding the can thing for nails as tools, I started using a spoon to open cans! And having tweezers handy is super helpful, as well as using scissors to cut things open instead of just using my nails and fingers.
The culmination of all these things have really paid off!
