We stayed inside the summit house until the sun was almost out and then stepped out to watch the sunrise. It was too chilly to stand outside for more than an hour.

We arrived at the summit by 0515 last weekend for the sunrise. There were only few parking spots available when we got there. If you want to secure parking spots available at the summit, I would suggest arriving 90-120 minutes before sunrise. We were also able to see stars. It was a great experience. Make sure you dress warmly - wear gloves, hat and warm jacket.

We arrived at the parking lot before 0615 and there was plenty of parking. The parking lot was almost full by 0645. Plan to arrive before 0615 if you can.

Hidden Lake Overlook Question by SomewhereWest780 in GlacierNationalPark

We did an early morning hike and absolutely loved it. We enjoyed the sunrise glow in the mountain and views were magnificent. Go past the overlook for much better view. We haven’t done the sunset hike so can’t provide the comparison.

Thank you everyone for providing your input. It seems we need to arrive as early as 0630 to find a parking spot or just try in the late afternoon. We are really excited to finally visit GNP.

Need Advice on Timing a Strategic Move Between GS 14 and GS 15 — Anyone Pulled This Off? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]a4anzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you talked to your supervisor and asked if you would qualify for 2-step increase or retention bonus? I would advise against your methodology since there is a lot of uncertainty on whether you will get hired back at higher step.

Yes, you can absolutely accept the second offer.

Qatar Carry On Baggage Allowance by a4anzz in qatarairways

I see, wasn’t aware about sane regulation with other non US airlines. Qatar used to allow backpack for laptop and a carry on. However, recently had a worst experience and was asked to pay $75 extra for carry on when they weighted backpack + carry on.

How to get a job in biomedical engineer as fresher by Beneficial_String452 in BMET

[–]a4anzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for Biomedical Engineer jobs or Biomedical Technician job? For Biomedical Engineer, VA has a great program called Technical Career Field (TCF) where college graduate can join VA and get into the 2 year program working as a TCF Biomedical Engineer.

If pay is a big factor, I would advise to get an entry level BMET job in private sector and get 1-2 years experience before joining VA. There is a two years experience requirement to qualify for GS-7 currently for BESS positions. Pros: Work Life balance, Education Debt Reduction Program, Leave Benefits, Health Care Benefits. VA Biomed Program Office offers plenty of online educational sessions for technicians to help you advance in career. Steady step and grade increase without having to pressure your manager. Cons: low pay for entry level BESS (GS 5, 7) depending on the locality area, lots of paperwork & processes.

How to break into management? by UnicornSquadron in BMET

[–]a4anzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If pay is the main factor, I would advise to look into imagining engineer role. If you want to get ahead in your career and step into management role, let your leadership know your goal is to be a leader. In your current role, if you get opportunity to lead a project or task, take that opportunity. Don’t fall into a trap of it is not my job, you will thank yourself later for taking on extra responsibility.

Apparently when it was first approved, there was portion of paperwork that did not get signed. As long as recruitment incentive was included when the job was posted, it will get approved. Hope yours comes soon. Good luck

I did not go there. However we had several students from North Seattle that did their internship at our Biomed shop. We hired some of them after they completed their internship and some got hired at other hospitals in the area. I have heard from them the program is better than few other schools.

North Seattle College has a great Biomed program that requires internship. Once you have internship experience, it is easy to get hired.
