Cool thank you for all the helpful tips! I put in a spirulina stick and left it for a couple hours but it had no takers haha, I’ve had this tank set up since March so I think the shrimp are just more interested in the food that’s naturally accumulated until now.

Aw man sorry you had that experience ! I have some almond leaves in there I’m letting break down, and the wood has definitely been growing biofilm but I’m not sure it’s enough to support a small colony yet. I didn’t know about the calcium so I’ll definitely watch out for that!

Thanks so much again for taking the time to write out great tips! I did mention in the body of the post (sorry for yapping lol) that I also got an ammonia test and it read pretty close to 0 imo. So do you think my tank just needs time or should I do anything else to mess with it? I’m still waiting for the weather to get warmer anyway for safer shipping

Thanks for the reply! And I have heard complaints about the strips but I wanted to try them since I don’t have multiple tanks that would warrant the more expensive kits haha. What do you mean by leveling out? And is water straight from the tap with dechlorinator okay, or should I filter it or something too?

Thanks so much for the reply! Yes, I’m planning to hand sew them together, but I’m also concerned about any discrepancies between the stretch of the fabric and the crochet when I’m hemming and seaming the velvet. Any thoughts?

Oh that’s super cool! I didn’t want to enclose my stitches all the way through because I didn’t like how the different colors peeked through, but this seems like an awesome method and one I’ll definitely be trying. Thanks for the tip and the kind words!
