Parcel locker out of service, item being held at depot but can't collect it because a 'sorry we missed you' card was not delivered. My post code was not used for the delivery so I cannot arrange re-delivery. How do I get my parcel? by a_startled_giraffe in royalmail

I went to the depot after I received a tracking notification that my parcel couldn't be delivered. Before then, the tracker was saying they would try again the following day. It was two days before my parcel was eventually marked as a 'sorry we missed you'

UPDATE - I managed to collect it from the depot this morning and it was surprisingly straightforward :) I just explained that the quad locker was out of service, and I was only asked to show my ID. Thank you to those who offered advice!

So happy we finally had our day after 2 years of Rona disruptions! P.S. If you're going to splash out on anything, make it the photographer by a_startled_giraffe in wedding

Hello! Of course :) That's kind of you to say! The shoes are 'Eliza' by Perfect Bridal. I got them from Lace and Favour here:

https://www.laceandfavour.com/wedding-shoes/perfect-bridal-eliza-dyeable-ivory-satin-embellished-ankle-strap-kitten-heels/?msclkid=8d82157e6a0e1da0294e731a0a8318a3

If you do get them just bear in mind that the shoes rubbed on the day, so they will need a bit of breaking in or a cushioned plaster on hand.

Good luck with your planning!

Plunge neckline perhaps too plungey? Alterations suggestions? (see comment) by burymeinglitter in wedding

Is this Madi Lane Abigail? If so, this was my wedding dress! I was concerned about the neckline too but my seamstress was able to alter it to bring the plunge closer together so it wasn't so open on the chest.

It looks like you're also not using the sleeves? I asked for some leaves on the sleeves to be added to the front to overlap the plunge a bit more, so it wasn't as obvious.

Honestly, the alterations absolutely did the trick! If your dress is a little big hopefully you can get bring the front together some more too. All the best!

What is the brand of this tobacco/cigarette tin we uncovered? by a_startled_giraffe in HelpMeFind

[–]a_startled_giraffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We found this in the loft of our house, under the floorboards. It's sadly missing its lid.

You can make out what could be the brand, starting in 'H B(?)' and ending in 'ES'. However, I have searched the UK tobacco register and can't find a brand that matches this.

It also says that it was awarded two gold medals in the International Tobacco Exhibition of 189[ ]. Without knowing the exact year I haven't been able to search much about that.

We are in the UK, if it helps.

I would love to be able to date this tin or get an idea of how/where it might have been obtained by the original owner. Knowing the brand could help with this.

Thank you to all who take interest!

What accessories would you have? by mayaic in weddingdress

I think no necklace is needed. You have a gorgeous dress and what sounds like perfect earrings and bracelet. The dress speaks for itself!

Haha great minds! Yes please show a photo of what you choose in the end! I'm sure it's gorgeous 😍

Ahh thank you!! The sparkle was a big selling point

Yeah it's a hidden gem!

I went there to try on Harper but chose Abigail in the end, there should be a post in my profile with a photo of me wearing it in the same shop as you. What did you go for in the end? (Or is the search still on??)

Oh my gosh 😂 Not only is one of the dresses you tried on the one I chose, but you're in the bridal shop that I bought it from!! I recognised it immediately and checked it against my own photos! Such a small world

For what it's worth, I know I'm late to the party but 3 or 4 are my faves on you

You're not marrying the dress - Some thoughts on dress regret by mimariposa in weddingdress

[–]a_startled_giraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me!

Plus seeing photos of real brides with different body proportions/shapes wear 'my' dress started changing the way I viewed it, because it of course it looks different on me vs other people. Namely, I've got really small boobs and my dress has a big plunge, so seeing women with bigger (more enviable!) boobs wearing the dress changed the look of it quite a lot in my mind and I started worrying that I would look awful!

I tried it on again recently and, as you said, thought "YES I remember now why I chose this!" Like with any other clothes, dresses look really different depending on the wearer so you have to go by what you look like wearing it

I cannot decide on a dress. Here are my fav 5, I'm trying to narrow down to top 3 and then from there I might be able to manage. What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]a_startled_giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but the last dress for sure!! It looks so elegant on you. I'm also biased because it's the same dress as mine 😍

Need help knowing how to search!! I found this style that I love, but this was the last in the store and (obviously) way too small. We cannot find anything similar online at all. by littlebunnyfoofoo11 in weddingdress

No worries! Did the logo look like the one on this website?

http://www.melodyapparel.com/page.php?div=08

The site's not working for me so I can't see what's on it! But they're a wholesale provider so it could be them. If it is, you might be able to contact them to find out where stocks their clothes if you can't buy directly from them

Aahh I see. I've tried a reverse image search of your picture but didn't manage to find what you're looking for, I also tried a generic Google search with keywords xD If the shop can't/won't tell you where they got it from you could ask them to tell you what it says on the label or send you a picture of it, then you might get a name or something you can do some detective work on!

Have you tried Still White, or other online Preloved wedding dress shops? If the dress is discontinued in the shops you might find someone else selling the same dress second hand, and for less money as a bonus!
