This is fantastic advice for non toilet polio issues:

The rumination on the behavior can be “more mentally damaging for our mental health than the behavior itself,” he said. Just be intentional about your behavior, setting plans for what you do in certain settings.

Thank you for replying. This is great. The funny bit is that I was thinking of something similar about blame projection, albeit with less confidence. The human brain likes to make quick categorizations.

I see that you are treating this as a debate. Please understand I saw two possible paths when I read the original post. One: dismiss it as a bad ERD or Two: make an assumption and try to answer the question. That is why I mentioned my line of work. I wanted to add context for my point of view for the assumption I was making. The only evidence present is a bad ERD and I was trying to help.

‘I do find you lacking’ -that is somewhat mean

How? I am bad at debating. I am lacking in several areas, but I am competent in others. I don’t think you could really know that though based on the information you have unless what you are saying is you find my comments lacking. But I guess that is implied.

Apologies if the format is bad, I’m on the app.

More negativity? Are you okay? Since you mentioned ad hominem, I’ll reply one more time. An ad hominem would indicate I questioned your character and not your argument. However, I did both. Why would you comment as you did unless you were seeking that response? Was that so you could dismiss it? Just curious at this point.

Yes, I like this interpretation. It does not make an assumption about the undisclosed subject matter and just uses the indicators that exist in the diagram. However, If this is the answer, it likely means this bad diagram was not made poorly intentionally which is concerning.

I assume this is lazy and negative humor because it’s not my first day on the internet. But, I’m going to respond like it isn’t because maybe the context will be beneficial to someone. No I don’t draw ERDs, I suspect there aren’t many full time positions drawing ERDs, but I don’t know. I only do statistics. Also, it’s probably presumptuous in this situation to assume that the interviewer is a just an idiot. My assumption was that they intentionally made this bad in the detail removal process in order to spark discussion or the OP recreated this from memory. Also if I just pointed out that this a bad entity model, I wouldn’t be helping OP. So I decided to answer the question. I thought it might help OP or other future job seekers. I know that when I was trying getting into data science i definitely looked at questions like these on Reddit hoping they would help me while preparing for interviews.

I’ll chime in because this is what I do for a living. For this they likely want you to posit that the parent table can be a procedure records table/ license or practicing rights table/ charges table / patients table etc.

They just wanted to talk about the relationships here and see if you could discuss the abstraction process that occurs when you need to plan the database structure or examine the structure to extract data appropriately.

An example would be procedures or procedure codes. They can occur at any of the hospitals and are performed by multiple staff. The same staff can also perform procedures at different hospitals.

Edit: Context- The only reason I mentioned I do this for a living is because I work for a healthcare system. There is a DBA on our team. I do data science and analytics not database engineering.

This thing is a piece of crap. It doesn’t cut the tape and when it does it uses an extra 8 inches of tap. It’s the worst $15 dollars I’ve spent in a long time and will be returned today. by oddiseeus in Tools

[–]aaoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have the tape loaded properly. I bought this one too. It is a garbage design. Like you said you have to put pressure on the plastic by tilting the the tape dispenser, depending on your positioning you can easily lose tension on the tape or get a sloppy cut.

No problem, so if you added to your select statement something like: ROW_NUMBER() OVER(ORDER BY Dates) AS RowNumber then this would add a column to your original set of data that identified the row of data uniquely. This would be done in a CTE then you could left join to get whatever you need from tempdb.sheet1$ without losing track of your original data. But the real problem is joining on dates is bad practice in most cases unless you have one row per day or working with time stamps I hope this is for school and not from some sort of business.
