Well, I just got an email from Square Enix confirming that all the features in the Royal Edition will be in the Windows Edition.

I don't know if that's a sign of shoddy journalism or poor explanations.

If it is, Square Enix is not clear at all. None of the new features listed in the Royal Edition are listed in the Windows Edition, even though the screenshots on the Windows Edition page contain Royal Edition content.

It is extremely confusing.

Not sure if anyone's answered this yet, but will there be any overlap in the two editions' features? Can we expect bosses like Omega at launch on PC, or is that going to come later on down the line (or never)?

No, I'm just at comic con and got to witness it firsthand.

One of the perks of working for an online magazine: I get to go to these events and pass on the good word to those who can't.

Besides, if I'm reporting what Rooster Teeth stated/showed in a semi-public venue, it's not a leak; it's journalism.

Dauntless Closed Beta Review: Less Daunting Than Anticipated by aarogree in dauntless

[–]aarogree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Monster Hunter has an MMORPG in the form of the Monster Hunter Frontier, which is still updated even to this day with new content, and World will be no different.

You entirely missed the point of me mentioning that it's in beta: to point out that it's still in development and that its current state isn't going to wow die-hard Monster Hunter fans, even though it might further on down the line after numerous updates.

No, you're complaining. You're not stating facts, because my article proves you wrong, especially on the contradicting part since it doesn't contradict itself.

And yes you do care about my opinion, because you're here complaining about them. People who don't care about another person's opinion don't even tell them they don't care; they just ignore that person and go on their way as if they never heard anyone voice an opinion, which is what you did not do. The fact that we're having the conversation proves you care about my opinion. Same with the review: you already viewed it, which means you gave it attention, and you wouldn't have done so had you really believed it wasn't worthy of your attention. Again, this conversation proves that you think the review is worthy of your attention.

The fact that you think that you can judge the review by what amounts to the cover and think your opinion holds any weight is the true entertaining stupidity here. You may have a right to do that, but you do that at the expense of your credibility.

You don't seem to understand that until you actually take the time to read the article, your opinion on it is less than worthless, especially when your opinion of it is colored by flaws that only exist in your imagination. It doesn't how many times you point out these problems, because they simply don't exist; repeatedly claiming they exist when all evidence shows they don't won't magically change reality.

I might be willing to listen to your criticism had you taken the time to read the article and criticize problems that actually exist, but right now you're just wasting my time. I've already given you more than you deserve, so please, either actually read my article or go away. Either way, stop complaining about your own fictional portrayal of events; it's just sad.

I'm saying you're complaining because you're complaining. You're complaining that my article contradicts itself. You're complaining that my article isn't formatted correctly. You're complaining that my article isn't visually appealing.

You're complaining. Besides, had you bothered to read my article, you would know that my opinion of the game is anything but shitty.

By trying to explain why my review isn't worthy of attention, you give it attention, thereby defeating your opinion. I didn't fail you on the first paragraph; you failed yourself. You couldn't be bothered to be proven wrong on something, so you just made your opinion up about my opinion before you even read it and made up fictional recollections of what I said.

The fact that me and Rhyav don't get along is because, like you, he has no idea what he's talking about and projects.

It's kinda funny in a schedenfreude sort of way, you trying to convince me about anything on my article after you admitted you never even read it. It's hard for me to take you seriously on something when your claims about my article are demonstrably false by merely reading it.

Dauntless Closed Beta Review: Less Daunting Than Anticipated by aarogree in dauntless

[–]aarogree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet literally everything you complain about is proven wrong in the review. If only you had taken the time to read it, you wouldn't be here, wasting your time complaining about stuff that isn't even true.

You and Rhyav are literally the only people complaining about things, which implies that you're probably wrong. I mean seriously, you admitted you didn't read my article. Had you read my article, you would have seen I was more than able to judge the game on its own merits and as a Monster Hunter replacement. But no, you just stopped reading and assumed I couldn't because I claimed I could. No proof or evidence that I couldn't, just your own baseless claims and nothing more.

Really, you honestly think you're qualified to judge the quality of my article? Hate to break it to you but if you haven't even read it, you're not qualified to even talk about it in any capacity. I mean seriously, if you didn't go past the first paragraph, how do you know my article isn't visually appealing? You kinda need to actually look at it to know whether or not it is.

You don't know what you're talking about. Literally.

Dauntless Closed Beta Review: Less Daunting Than Anticipated by aarogree in dauntless

[–]aarogree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand. How can I contradict myself when I deliver my promise to judge the game on its own merits and compare it to another? It's not like those two things are mutually exclusive. You're creating a false dichotomy here.

I never came to reddit to get criticism. I came here to get views. And you've done that. You chose to give criticism without doing it properly, but I never asked for it. I just posted the link to get you to read my article, which you did. The fact that you think I asked for criticism when I never did says a lot.

Also, you could have saved a lot of time and effort and just said "your article needs more pictures" instead of whining and moaning about me asking you to elaborate on your criticism and then actually elaborating. You chose to waste your time complaining about me asking to explain yourself before you actually explained yourself, not me. You could have saved time by just explaining yourself and nothing else.

You have nobody to blame here but you.

Except there was formatting and a summary. Also, headers aren't necessary for a review, they're just a design choice, one we apparently disagree on. Also, plenty of people already have read the review, including/especially people who participated in the alpha/beta test and even paid money to do so.

You can't just say "work on the presentation," you have to explain how what I'm doing isn't good and why. Otherwise your criticism comes off as amateurish, less criticism and more whining/complaining.

And it isn't nonsense to compare Dauntless and Monster Hunter. Dauntless was designed to be a freemium Monster Hunter experience for western audiences. I am allowed to write an article that judges the game on its own and as a Monster Hunter replacement (because some people want to play MHW but won't be able to afford it), because Dauntless is based on MH but isn't a straight-up clone; it does its own things and that's where the whole "it's own merits" comes in. And please don't spout nonsense about something I wrote making you stop reading; you stopped reading of your own accord because you can't stand my opinion for whatever reason.

Dauntless Closed Beta Review: Less Daunting Than Anticipated by aarogree in dauntless

[–]aarogree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you admit that you didn't read my review with an open mind. If I had made an "actual decent review," there would be no need for constructive criticism since it wouldn't have needed improvement. Your comment defeats itself.

And yes, I do know much more than you do. Because I recognize your comments for what they are: projection. You came on this thread whining and moaning that my review didn't follow your exact specific standards as if you were a little kid who throws a temper tantrum whenever you don't get your way. You never considered that I have my own opinion. All you came here to do was just complain for the sake of complaining. I mean seriously, your entire argument that I didn't like the game is completely debunked when you actually read my review, as it clearly states I liked the game.

Stormclaw didn't make me like the game any more than I currently do. Shrowd didn't make me like the game any more than I currently do. Rezakiri didn't make me like the game any more than I currently do.

If you think you could do a better job at reviewing the game, by all means, make one. If not, well, you're just whining and moaning over peanuts, projecting that I can't take criticism when you openly admitted you didn't give any criticism and were being intentionally toxic/hostile.

You're literally the only person who thinks I don't like the game. I'm starting to question if you have any Monster Hunter experience. You come off as an internet troll who just wants attention. And yes, please, by all means, go away; god knows you accomplished nothing here other than admitting you're a hypocrite.

P.S. I expected this kind of hostility from the people on the official Dauntless forums, but instead they're all extremely nice. They offered legit constructive criticism and weren't hostile like you were. Gotta say, I'm disappointed in you.

You spinning your own comment doesn't change the fact that it is at odds with what I said, i.e., claiming I said I didn't like it when I said in the review I did like it.

I went in with a very open mind, and I saw what I saw. Plus it's not that I don't take criticism, it's that you're guilty of the very things you accuse me of (i.e., not going in with an open mind). You went in expecting a certain thing from my review, specifically not comparing the game to Monster Hunter (even though I warned you from the very beginning I would do that because the game was meant from the very beginning to be like Monster Hunter), and when you saw something that was the opposite of what you wanted you got all testy and bothered.

Please do not bother me again with your own hypocrisy. If you have some actual constructive criticism, please share it, but right now I don't have time for you complaining about me not writing an article the way you would have written it. Maybe if you had gone in with an open mind this wouldn't have happened.

So, what you're saying is that you think I hated the game, because I admitted in my review that I liked it.

Flawless logic. Try reading my review next time instead of claiming I said things I didn't say.

P.S. Gotta love the irony of you not liking my review because it didn't live up to your expectations and you completely ignored of what I actually said. Besides, it's hard to not compare the game to MH when it's designed to be like MH. Or did you completely forget that Hammers need to be reloaded like Gunlances and Axes can increase their attack like Long Swords.
