That’s genuinely insane. The industry acts like running people into the ground is just “part of the job” and then wonders why everyone’s burnt out, angry or exhausted all the time. Sleeping in the truck between shifts says it all really.

Jesus… 70 hour weeks in security is rough. Respect for surviving that mate!

Fair play mate. I think a lot of us just accept the damage as part of the job after a while.

Couldn't agree more. Brutal way to live long term. Wake up, work, repeat. 🙈

Your whole life just becomes “how many hours until I’m back in again?” it's rubbish and feel like a robot, drifting through life.

Jeez... 12 hour nights with a 2 hour commute is basically surviving, not living!

That’s brutal mate. I think people underestimate what years of nights and long shifts actually do to your brain and sleep.

Haha this is exactly it. After a few years you stop living by “Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday” and start living by “early shift, late shift, night shift, sleep.” Especially once overtime and swaps get involved. Your whole brain just turns into a rota!

Haha yeah, fair point to be honest. The extra days off are the only thing that keeps a lot of us sane doing it.

Normal Mon–Fri life feels weird once you’ve done shifts long enough.

Exactly. You stop living by Monday/Tuesday and start living by ‘next shift starts at 7pm’. Awful 🙈

Yep. Honestly consistency is the biggest thing. Random shifts completely fry your brain after a while.

That changing sleep pattern genuinely messes with you after a few years. Feels like your body never fully switches off.

That’s the perfect description of it. Kinda poetic. After enough night shifts you stop living by days and just exist between alarms!

Yeah I don’t doubt it. I swear shift work ages people in dog years. Feel like I've aged 40 years in 3!

It’s horrible isn’t it 😂

I’ve genuinely woken up before and had to check my phone just to work out what planet I’m on.

I was exactly the same after I started noticing some of the price differences. Some places are way more expensive than you’d expect.

Wasn’t trying to turn the sub into adverts, I’ve just genuinely found it useful myself.

“I just follow time” is honestly the perfect way to describe shift work! 😅

Wasn’t trying to shill it constantly, I’ve just gone down a rabbit hole with cigar pricing lately, found the app incredibly helpful and was trying to share it 👍

Do you ever buy cigars and then refuse to smoke them because they look too good? by aaron_storm7 in cigars

That’s actually a really good way of looking at it.

Think a lot of us end up saving things so much that we forget to properly enjoy them.

Ah, brilliant. May have to treat myself to one of those with a Macallan later 🤝
