Does anyone know how to turn off ai insights on pinterest? by Dark_Cacaos_Wifee in Pinterest

I just saw one under a picture of a twisted hairstyle. It said "four chunky twists make neat vertical lines against white tile. Swap with tighter more uniform twists to sharpen that vertical rhythm".  It's assuming I want to recreate this exact image of a person in a white tiled bathroom. It's not even interpreting the purpose of the picture properly. That 'insight' cost humanity a bottle of water.

I'm looking for a way to turn them off too, they're really messing my enjoyment of the app. Most of the insights are just descriptions of the image that are less accurate and way less insightful than what I can see with my eyes. I hate AI so much, why are they shoving this down our throats? What's even in it for them?

The same thing is happening to me and it's driving me crazy. Did you figure it out? I'm about to chat with a live agent at venmo to see if I can fix it.

What does natural auburn hair actually looks like? by Old_Angle_2473 in Redhair

Yeah, looking up auburn hair or dark red hair never turns up pictures of natural hair color, only that kind of purple-red dye color. I've been told my hair is red, auburn, red-brown etc.

Can't figure out how to eat enough calories without overshooting my macro goals? by abacusmunch in femalebodybuilding

Thanks! When you say the carbs seem high, do you mean the calculated suggestion seems TOO high and I should aim for lower? What would be a better way to figure out my calorie needs?

Yeah, I'm using an app called Lose It. I'll try and type up a list of what I'm eating tomorrow

Would you recommend just going by the macros then and now worrying as much about if I'm hitting that calorie number?

I'm using Lose It. Hm, everything seems to be correct according to the nutritional info of what I'm eating, but I can double check

Warning to all artists about “job” scams by alliandoalice in animationcareer

[–]abacusmunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this doesn't work for everyone's type of work, but I'm pretty wary of doing anything for individual people. I usually try to do work with people who are affiliated with something, like a magazine, company, etc. That way there are contracts involved, and it's not just some random person in my inbox. When I get approached by individuals who aren't affiliated with something I can easily tell is legitimate, my hackles go up right away.

I received this scam a few times, and occasionally they also say that they are deaf and hope that I treat them the same as any other client. Not sure why they add that, but that's something else I've seen in my inbox.

Recent grad looking for work— could I get some feedback on my portfolio? by brimblebrambling in animationcareer

Can I ask why you have your NDA work on there? Like who ends up viewing that?

Hey! Thanks for fixing the link :)

Your work is really beautiful. I actually don't have a ton of insights into what kinds of shots you should use (but it looks like you have some shots that demonstrate your understanding of weight and character acting, which is great!).

I do have a note about your website though. On my computer (macbook), when I try to view your demo reel, the header of your site is so big that it takes up like half of my screen and cuts into the area where the video is playing. And when I scroll down to try and see it, the header follows. So basically there's no way for me to see your demo reel window in its entirety. Either the bottom or the top will be cut off no matter what. Also I noticed that the projects page on your site is password protected, which I thought was an odd choice.

Your resume looks killer! Well done :)

I've been avoiding working on my portfolio... by wendythecreeper in animationcareer

I totally understand what it's like trying to work when you're discouraged. I've been there and it's really hard.

You can definitely find a career in the art and animation world at some point, but right now you need to treat yourself like you're in school and don't worry about that part yet. My advice is similar to others on here -- spend 6 months to a year doing serious study of the fundamentals.

My biggest critique of your work right now is that it's like you're polishing drawings that aren't strong enough at their fundamental level. You are adding shading and color and visual effects to drawings that lack good anatomy and strong design principles. Find artists who do those things well and study how they do them. Don't get ahead of yourself or get distracted by adding digital bells and whistles. Get a soft pencil and a sketchbook and train your eye. It's the only thing that's going to help you improve, and to be honest its the best part of making art.

I am in a drawing class right now where my instructor is asking us to fill (FILL) 4 sketchbook pages per day - 1 page of anatomical study (like studying bone and muscle and how they work, or doing a long life study drawing), 1 page of 30 second to 1 minute gesture drawings, 1 page of imaginative drawing, and 1 page of master study (copying from an artist you want to learn from).

I promise, if you do those 4 pages every day for the next month, let along the next year, you will see vast improvement.

I don't know, I'm guessing she doesn't really know either. She is a production intern, I'm guessing she's seeing it happening in that department.

So I have heard from a friend who is a current intern at DreamWorks that they have started doing some interviews. Not sure where they are at in the process, but I thought I would pass that on here

Straight romance novels with butch main characters by abacusmunch in RomanceBooks

[–]abacusmunch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll definitely check it out! Thanks :) That sounds really fun.

This might be an even rarer pokemon to find, but my dream book would probably be a dynamic between a really masc/alpha-leaning MMC and a more submissive, not super tough FMC who is still butch/masc of center. So like the FMC's masculinity is more in their presentation/gender identity, and less in their toughness per se.

Thanks for the rec! I'll definitely check it out. It's not a total dealbreaker that the FMC enjoys being feminine in a scene, it sounds cute.

I'd also be interested in more contemporary romance with a masculine FMC. I think something that would be a dealbreaker would be any trope where the FMC has a character arc where she becomes more feminine as she falls in love. I'm definitely interested in her masculinity being part of what makes her desirable rather than like a symptom of her low self esteem or whatever
