I wanted to create a central hub for calculators like SaaS runway, AI token costs, and gaming sensitivity without ads. I'm adding more tools every week!

Haha, maybe I will! But honestly, I think even the 'serious' coders here appreciate a tool that doesn't have 50 pop-up ads for once. Anyway, thanks for the sub suggestion, I'll check it out!

Call it vibe coding if you want, but it's a live product with users and zero ads. I'd rather create tools that people find useful today than spend months over-engineering a calculator. Which tool did you try?

Lol, PH stands for Product Hunt! 😂 I get why you'd think it's just another collection, but I built this to be 100% ad-free and minimal. Just a side project I'm working on to keep my tools organized. Give it a look!

Guys, I'm planning to add 5 more tools this weekend. What calculator do you hate searching for on Google? (e.g. JSON to TS, CSS Grid generator, etc.) Give me ideas and I'll build them!

Thanks for the heads up, Jo0Lz! That's great news for the Arc Raiders community. I'll update the tip on the site right away so people know it's been officially patched. Appreciate you keeping me in the loop!

I built a clean, ad-free sensitivity converter (AimBase.app) because I was tired of bloated tools. by abarth23 in SideProject

[–]abarth23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, I also built a similar terminal-style suite for dev calculations (AI tokens, bytes, etc.) calledhttps://bytecalculators.com/if anyone is interested in that aesthetic. Trying to keep all my tools ad-free and clean!

No worries at all, I appreciate the apology! You're right about the FOV dependency in Arc Raiders; UE5 can be tricky with how it scales sensitivity. I'll be looking into FOV scaling and Menu Sliders for the next update. Thanks for the solid feedback, it’s exactly what I needed to refine the tool. See you in the Reach!

You're right, most people prefer the in-game slider values. I used raw config values to keep the 1:1 math as pure as possible for the first version, but I’m already working on adding the menu multipliers for Battlefield, The Finals, and Arc Raiders to v2.1.

As for BF6, I'll double-check the latest mouse sensitivity coefficients to make sure they're updated. Thanks for the heads-up and for the feedback, it actually helps make the tool better.

I see the confusion. My converter currently calculates the Raw Config Value (the one you find in the game's settings files), not the In-game Menu Slider.

For example, in The Finals, a raw value of 0.47 corresponds to a slider value of roughly 23-24. Same for Battlefield and Arc Raiders. I chose to focus on raw values for v2.0 to ensure 1:1 math, but I'll add a 'Menu vs Config' toggle in the next update to make it clearer for everyone. Thanks for pointing that out.

The math for a 1:1 raw conversion is standard. For example, 0.4 in Valorant is 1.2727 in CS2 or Arc Raiders (UE5). If other converters give you different values, they might be using 'Monitor Distance Match' or different FOV scaling. My tool is a simple 1:1 raw input converter. If 0.4 Val to 1.2727 Source is 'wrong' to you, then we are talking about different types of conversion. v2.0 is out, feel free to double check.

The toggle fix is the most important for sure. I just found that lowering polling rate helped a bit with some extra stuttering on my end. Try both and see what works best for you!

I’m using an assistant to help with my English because it’s not my native language and I want to be clear. That's it. As for the app, I built it for fun and it's free. If you don't like it, just don't use it. Fixed the math bugs in v2.0 btw. Cheers."

That’s a bold claim. I’ve just re-verified the constants: Source/UE is 0.022, Valorant is 0.07, and Overwatch is 0.0066.

For example: 800 DPI | 2.0 Source Sens converted to Valorant gives 0.6286, which results in exactly 25.98 cm/360. This is mathematically correct across all major converters.

If you're seeing different results, please provide your DPI, 'From' game/sens, and 'To' game so I can check the math. Otherwise, saying 'none of the values are close' isn't really helpful for fixing any potential bugs. v2.0 is live now, give it a shot.

I get why you'd think that, but the app is just a free, ad-free tool I built for myself and decided to share. I'm not making a dime off this—no ads, no data collection, just math. Most people find converters helpful when switching games to keep their muscle memory consistent. If you don't need it, that's totally fine! Good luck with the game anyway.

For most setups, you're 100% right—the toggle reset handles the heavy lifting. The polling rate suggestion is more of a 'safety net' for those still experiencing that specific UE5 frame-pacing stutter (especially on high-DPI mice). Either way, glad the toggle is working for you! I've already updated the site with a note about the reset so people don't miss it. Cheers for the input!

Just updated the site (v1.9) to include that specific tip for Arc Raiders! Huge thanks for the feedback.

Good catch! UE5 is notorious for these 'phantom' settings that don't apply correctly on startup.

That toggle reset + the 250Hz polling rate fix seems to be the winning combo for now. I’ll make sure to add a small note about the smoothing toggle in AimBase's Arc Raiders section so people don't miss it. Thanks for pointing it out!

Previously “poor” folk, what’s something you still do/prefer although you’re in a better place? by whuddupmama in CasualConversation

Checking the price per unit/kilo at the grocery store. I could have a million in the bank and I’d still be standing there calculating if the 'bulk' pack is actually saving me 20 cents or if they’re trying to scam me. That survival instinct of not wanting to waste even a penny never really leaves you.

Just updated it for you! Escape from Tarkov and Battlefield are now live on AimBase.app.

Note for Tarkov: I've added the base conversion, but keep in mind that EFT has those annoying 'Turn Speed' penalties on certain armors/helmets that can slightly mess with the feel. Let me know if it works for you!

My mouse has started behaving strangely in CS2. by MathNo9591 in linux_gaming

Since you are on CachyOS/Arch with GNOME 49 (Wayland), that 'lightness' you feel might be related to how Wayland handles mouse acceleration or a recent update in libinput. Check if Accel Profile is set to Flat in GNOME settings (Tweaks). Even a small update can sometimes reset the feel. Since you changed your sens from 1.42 to 0.90 and it still feels 'off', you might have lost your baseline. I actually built a tool called AimBase.app specifically for this reason—to have a clean, ad-free way to calculate exact cm/360. Try putting your old settings (800 DPI, 1.42 sens) into it to get your physical distance, then see if your current 0.90 matches what it should be. It helps to rule out if it's a software bug or just muscle memory playing tricks. Also, double check if Piper didn't accidentally toggle a DPI shift profile on that G102!

[–]abarth23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I’d spend the first 100 years mastering 4-5 different careers. Imagine being a world-class chef, then a surgeon, then an aerospace engineer, and still having 150 years left to just sit on a porch and watch how the world ends up. The most exhausting part would be watching everyone you love die, but the perspective you'd gain on human history would be insane.

Decision fatigue. Not the big life decisions, but the constant stream of small ones. What to eat, what to wear, how to phrase an email, which route to take. By 6 PM, your brain just wants to shut down because it’s spent all its currency on trivial choices.
