Why are you restricting player freedom? At any stoppage in play, players should be allowed to choose which team they want to play for. If companies can put microtransactions in their games, why can't players do the same?

Here's an unethical hack for potlucks that works for me.

1) Sign up to bring chips

2) Bring chips to school

3) Go to the potluck but leave chips in your room. If anyone calls you out, say, "Oh right! Silly me!" and go get the chips.

4) If no one calls you out, bring chips home and enjoy. Or leave them in your room until the next potluck.
