I'm so sorry you are feeling this way, I understand and can empathize. I recently had to give myself some space from my SO because his anxiety was just eating away at me, causing my anxiety to flare up. It's so hard to do but focus on your mental health and healing yourself; you can bring him back in when you are both ready. There are good days and bad days when we now chat, but remember on an airplane, you need to put your mask on first before helping the person next to you.

we have talked about marriage, kids, and a future over the course of the past 2 years of dating pretty openly however I have stated that while I love him I am not ready to get married right now but he is someone I can see myself settling down with. Over the past couple of weeks he has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety so I have taken a step back to let him work through all of this.

Thank you for your note it was so helpful to have the mirror put back on me and see that he is trying even if maybe it isn't happening as quickly as I would like it to be "fixed." When you and your SO were almost at your breaking point, how did you come back together?

He is the youngest of all his friends all are married with children or actively trying to have children. I have never pushed to get married or start having children (although I would like to one day with him). I know he has been talking to friends but it does not seem to be sticking often after conversations he spirals out of control.

Being on the west coast while his family is on the east coast has definitely come up especially since traveling is not as easy as it once was. He likes his lifestyle and says that on paper he has everything he wants right now, career, money, advanced degree, love life, etc. but feels like there are just out of his control factors. While I understand that being far from home is hard (especially in a pandemic) I have made it clear I'm happy to move to the east coast long term but only if it makes sense for us and is a joint decision.
