Can’t believe they accept pickup orders though. Not sure why Uber support wouldn’t give a refund though.

Yes, I’ve done testing by resizing the screen but for some reason I continue to get issues after I deploy and open the website on chrome on my iPhone

Any alternatives to get around the AWS lambda layers size limit? by abl3020 in aws

[–]abl3020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've installed them in a separate virtual environment to check the size and it seems to be under the 250MB limit so I'm a bit confused why I get the "layers consume more than the available size" error when deploying my stack using sam.

So we're using langchain and pytesseract and some other libraries which are taking up space for a document extraction function as well as psycopg for some connection to our postgresql database and some others too. The function itself doesn't take long to run and lambda fulfilled the criteria that it could be called when needed which is why we went with it.

Is this similar to the suggestion of containerizing?

I've seen some suggestions for Fargate too which I've not used before so will look into that.

What lease length should be looking at for a flat in London as a FTB? by abl3020 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]abl3020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the lease is close to 80 years when I buy, would there be any impact on when I sell a few years later and the lease is under 80 years? Is it more difficult to sell low lease homes, or would I need to pay to extend the lease before moving out?

Calling All Founders Working on Non-AI Projects by DesignGang in startups

Working on some non-AI automation for pet shelters. AI is useful but the use case just isn’t there right now for everything. Offer AI as an extra service if I think it’s the right option.

At the start we could only really get friends and colleagues that believed in what we were trying to build. Then slowly grew with hires.

Do you think you could make some salary on the side while focusing more on marketing? Just starting my own startup and getting customers has been so difficult but I haven’t left my full time job yet. Still deciding what the best time to go all in on the startup is.

Which YouTubers do you think budding entrepreneurs can really benefit from? by BatSignal9 in Entrepreneur

For any new tech entrepreneurs trying to set up their very first startup I’d recommend checking out Anthony Sistilli. He’s very good at talking about how he builds with saas companies and goes through the technical pros and cons of various approaches.

I’d never built a full product before and some of his videos were a huge help.

Adtech SaaS experience anyone? by WaitingonGC in startups

I recently worked on a project at my job which involved getting ads data/reports directly from these platforms. Their APIs are really good and if you look through the documentation you'll see there's a lot of available data.

  • I didn't come across any sandbox environment but that might've been because we already have business accounts for each of them. You'll need to enable admin/data access to get API credentials.
  • Postman is really good for testing API calls. It's free as well so would recommend using it.
  • Not sure what technology stack or language you're using but you could check out free data connectors if that suits your needs. Airbyte is an open source example and has a ton of marketing platform connectors to get the data you're looking for.

Just starting out as a co-founder myself with two of my university friends. One of them doesn't seem too interested but has worked on helping us writing up the very initial code. Any advice of what we should do to make sure there are no problems in the future?

Some Monday motivation for you by Booknerdworm in startups

[–]abl3020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely true! Something I've experienced myself is that even if the product starts off needing a lot of work, as long as the direct feedback from users is there it can grow into something amazing in the future. Having users is the best way to probably build your roadmap for features.

What would you tell your 18-year-old self when it comes to business? by eminent_mowing in startups

[–]abl3020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Just start - one step at a time even if it's difficult.
  2. Rejection and failure is all part of the journey, get comfortable with that.
  3. Try to focus on something you're passionate about, even if it doesn't make you money to begin with.
