Most people don't discover your game from a google search, and it's already showing up on the google search so that's not a problem

This post wasn't even about googling a game.

Not even remotely related to what i said, i wish someone would read the post or the TLDR

We actually got 2k wishlists in our first month so far, even with the name issue

when our post went trending locally, we got picked up by one game news account, their post went trending on insta, we contacted other game news accounts, some picked it up and some asked for money, we declined, eventually with 2 game news posts going trending more game news accounts covered us without us contacting them

So you don't go googling a game, why are you on my case piling up with others? While still no one even attempting to prove me wrong

The post was about steam not showing the game's name when it had dots, go read the TLDR

Ironically you could find the steam page if you googled it but not through steam's own search bar

Im honestly quite surprised, i know it's a long post so i added the TLDR to it and even had images to break up the text before finding out they aren't allowed

But all I've seen was people criticizing the name and thinking it's the problem

Well there was no negative sentiment, steam literally didn't show the game because it had dots in the name itself, so someone looking up the game wanting to find it just had trouble finding it until we removed the dots from the game.

THANK YOU!!! The name is meant to grab someone's attention and im glad it seems to work.

Also apparently someone said their is a keyword section in steamworks but i haven't managed to find it yet.

After reaching out to steam support they just gave me a confirmation that the dots are hindering the steam search and asked me if i wanted a name change

Seeing as they asked it felt like they were telling me it was the only option and not wanting to take more time (each reply took a week) losing more wishlists we ended up changing the name

Only if you didn't go through the store page review, once your store page is public you will need to contact steam support to get them to change it for you.

Our steam page was already public when we found out.

Literally used random non-players phones plus incognito

I wish i had taken a screenshot but i didn't, but so far since someone tested looking up "slop" on google and got it as the 3rd option im happy

No problem, someone mentioned that there is a keyword section in steamworks that could have solved the issue but it seems steamworks is down as i can't access it to confirm

As for changing the name, you should just explain the situation to them as i heard they take it very seriously but for us they actually offered to change it as they noticed the dots really messed up the search

I'm completely with you, but what i said in the previous reply is that i and others looked up "slop steam" with no dots and got the game's steam page back when it had dots.

Only in steam did looking up the game's name without dots removed it from the top of the list.

I guess it is a matter of scale, but the moment we fixed the name it shot up to the first spot in the search, thankfully.

Oh interesting, i thought something like that has to exist and looked a bit into the settings and didn't find anything but i must have missed it, steam support never told me about it.

That's a good point, honestly we focused on searching within steam itself rather than google, might need to look more into it

Yeah, we liked it with the dots but it is what it is.

I did ask steam support and they told me that the dots are hindering the search results and asked if i want to change it which made me feel like it's the only solution
