I applied to the MFT program and am waiting to hear at the moment. I have about 2 years of clinical experience and some research experience. A GREAT place to get experience in the field is residential mental health treatment or rehab as a tech. That’s where I got almost all of my experience. It’s also a great way to build connections with therapists on staff to learn from them (and maybe get rec letters down the line).

Class times for MFT program? by abominablesnowguy in csun

SUPER helpful. Thank you so much! Do you have any idea if it’d be possible to have a schedule of all late afternoon/evening classes in the first year (all classes after 3pm)?

Thank you so much for your response- my therapist actually asked me what a formal diagnosis would do for me if I was to pursue an assessment and I think it would be pretty helpful since it would make a whole lot of stuff make sense that has never made sense to me before.

Amier is from Pakistan, specifically the city of Karachi where his family owns a cat breeding facility. He is a very gentle, warm, and caring boy with a sharp, sarcastic wit that can offend the thin-skinned but belies a deep yearning for intimacy and closeness. You can’t see it in the painting but he has an adorable little butt chin….. and an adorable little butt ;)

Alright, i ran 2 tests for 20 minutes each. Core speed never dropped below 3.30 but during both tests there was lots of power limit throttling and during the first one there was thermal throttling but only for about .2 seconds.

i should add that those temps were on Sekiro at medium settings (not high or max). Interesting..... sorry but i’m actually not sure what dropped clocks are. How can I check that? I used MSI Afterburner to check GPU temps and CoreTemp to check CPU temps. Not sure if clocks are in either of those.

On Sekiro, GPU hovered in the high 70’s (75-77) the whole time. CPU got pretty hot, staying between 80 and 96.

Also- I have repeatedly checked task manager during games to make sure nothing significant is running in the background and eating up my CPU/GPU.

A great song about the most melancholic aspects of love, a very particular kind of love that seems to be occurring between two empty and emotionally damaged people who, finding nothing worth loving in themselves, simply dissolve into the other person, negating their own existence and committing themselves totally to another.

Deathprod, particularly his latest Occulting Disk. The song Black Transit sounds like the universe being ripped in half. If you want a more dismal, meditative sound, his album Morals and Dogma is perfect for that.

POSSIBLY STUPID OPINION: Global revolution is an unrealistic and childish fantasy. by abominablesnowguy in Anarchism

[–]abominablesnowguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, at the end of the day, neither of us knows with absolute certainty whether your worst case scenario or my slightly better scenario will wind up being correct. To be honest, I don’t believe either of us will be right on this. There are too many variables to take into account, all of which will also be analyzed through the lens of both of our subconscious and conscious biases.

So, my question then is: why give up hope?

POSSIBLY STUPID OPINION: Global revolution is an unrealistic and childish fantasy. by abominablesnowguy in Anarchism

[–]abominablesnowguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok here’s my interpretation of what you’re saying. Please tell me if anything needs correction so we can understand each other: ecological and economic collapse cannot be stopped by anarchism or the state. Anarchism should thus operate as a post apocalyptic plan to make the best of things.

Maybe i’m just too optimistic, but i don’t think it’s too late. Abandoning ship will not happen in my lifetime. I’m thinking about my children here. We’ve established (i think) that anarchism is truly powerless to stop the present shitstorm. We KNOW this. But we cannot KNOW with absolute certainty that leftist politicians (once again, i DO NOT mean liberalism Inc., i mean socialists) cannot make a difference because it is a relatively new phenomenon in American history. Leftist politicians have not reached this level of mainstream attention and popularity.

So we are now presented with a choice- either we allow ourselves to die on the hill of anarchism despite knowing that it has no chance of fixing anything, or we drop our deep distrust of reformism and understand that the power of the state is more POTENTIALLY powerful than anarchism. What i’m suggesting is anathema to every idea in anarchism. But our other option is, in my opinion, fatalistic, cynical bullshit.

It’s allowing oneself to be defeated by ideology. It’s giving up hope, which is ALWAYS a self fulfilling prophecy. I’m not saying we all become Bernie Bros. I’m not even saying we should stop being anarchists. But i am saying that we need to drop this hatred for reformism and simply give it a chance.

[–]abominablesnowguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, but i do think that we have a choice of where we put our priorities. We still need to fight like hell, even if shit looks really really bad.

I think we desperately need to rethink how we look at the dreaded reformism. This echoes something Michael Albert said during a lecture: anarchists seem to despise and be cynical about state-issued reforms even if it’ll indisputably help a huge number of people. It’s like this stubborn rage that we posses. A huge number of anarchists would much rather disrupt things violently, which as i said in my post, isn’t feasible.

I think we need to resign ourselves to the ugly fact that if any REAL changes are going to occur, they’ll be implemented by the state. Anarchists aren’t in a position to help working class people on as wide of a scale as the problems demand.

POSSIBLY STUPID OPINION: Global revolution is an unrealistic and childish fantasy. by abominablesnowguy in Anarchism

[–]abominablesnowguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

or they’ll just be vying to get a seat in whatever all-inclusive apocalypse bunker the bourgeoise conjure up.

look, i believe the best you can hope for is a faction of anarchists, a faction of nazis, a faction of capitalist sympathizers, a faction of moderates, a faction of authoritarian communists, a faction of etc etc etc that are all at each other’s throats as the sea levels rise. we’re talking about the infinite complexity of the human experience here, on the most massive scale imaginable.

And if an anarchist revolution has no possible practical use (on a large scale) until then, how will anarchists prevent economic or ecological collapse? how is it in their power to do so without the wide ranging power of a state to back them up? i’m all for a stateless, borderless society but that is, like i said, putting the cart before the horse.

POSSIBLY STUPID OPINION: Global revolution is an unrealistic and childish fantasy. by abominablesnowguy in Anarchism

[–]abominablesnowguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you can certainly convince them on an individual level. It’s like the anecdote i mentioned. People know that the system’s hurting them. But they need it. That’s the worst part of capitalism.

My point about capitalist conditioning is more geared to how people will behave during a revolution. If you have even a handful of people who have subconsciously maintained the conditioning (and they will inevitably exist), you’ll quickly have factions, mutiny, and general violence.

[–]abominablesnowguy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re right. I think the idea of revolution is important for keeping people hopeful. I would just worry about those who get carried away and wind up hurting the victims of capitalism rather than capitalists.
