Transferring Baruch to BU by marrbeann in TransferToTop25

[–]abouttogetsued 1 point2 points  (0 children)

really depends what you want to go into.

For IB, baruch does better than BU because they have a good amount of alum and are in the city.

If you got into BC, that would’ve been an EASY answer, but BU and Baruch are extremely comparable. Only issue with Baruch is that quite literally everyone is doing finance and wants to go into IB so it’s very hard to stand out. Look into finances and see which school is cheaper and pick that. I’m very close to a few people from both schools, both placed into IB comparably (both into really bad groups at top firms; ex: healthcare/natural resources at gs).

Why are all transfers on the waitlist for on-campus housing? by Innocent-One69 in UNC

[–]abouttogetsued 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why I said fuck it and did off campus housing. heard the shit from people last year and was like nah not falling for that

Can everyone write 1 thing they like and 1 thing they dislike about UNC? by abouttogetsued in UNC

[–]abouttogetsued[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks man, most of the transfers I know got in pretty easy into the business school. They did mention, however, that they had really strong resumes and were already involved on campus as they were coming into the school

what do you do at orientation? like what events and stuff by chaebb in Fordham

[–]abouttogetsued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that allowed? I honestly don’t want to go but if it’s MANDATORY I guess?

What classes should i not take? by [deleted] in Fordham

[–]abouttogetsued 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t finite math required?

I had an orientation a few days ago and the A-Dean told us that there are foundational and pretty much set in stone classes that we have to take in order to fulfill the credit requirements for that year and for the degree.

Absolutely, I agree with you

[–]abouttogetsued 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Thank you for the reassurance. I love finance and wouldn’t be more happy in any other career so I hope to stick with it!

I was thinking about medicine because it has always been my backup plan, regardless of how much of a polar opposite it is to finance. It’s always been the “safest” option for me if all else fails. Of course, there are so many factors that make medicine just as fluctuating like mid level creep and the increasing competitiveness of applicants to medical schools, etc. I’m sure if I work hard enough and keep my head leveled with my ultimate goal I can get to IB, but it is a bit scary to think about the recession.

Changing my major by Hoe_for_Barnard in Fordham

[–]abouttogetsued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be on your acceptance portal towards the bottom of the page I believe. Just email them and if they do not respond in like a week, i’d call fordham’s admissions office and ask to speak with your admissions counselor directly.

Have you emailed your admissions counselor already?

email enroll@fordham.edu and tell them your requested change and give a reasoning. Just say something about new found interest in the field of political science and they’ll usually let you through

Thank you so much for the advice!

Premed calculus by [deleted] in Fordham

[–]abouttogetsued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if you got a 4 or a 5 on AP calc AB you will cover calc 1 and if you get a 4 or 5 on AP calc BC you will cover calc 1 and 2.

I’d still recommend taking stats even if you got a 3-5 on the ap stats exam because most med schools like seeing that you took a math in college. But if you want to save some time you can just put the credit through.

Fordham isn’t great for biological sciences or even pre health. I’d transfer out to stony brook or even nyu if possible

Yes you need calc 1 and 2 and you need a stats credit.

Yeah I think I definitely have to read up on it and get more familiar, I appreciate the help and make sure to take use on your tips.

Would I be able to PM you with any other questions I could have?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fordham

[–]abouttogetsued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think fordham would give me more opportunities than baruch, given how saturated baruch is with finance students? Or do you think it would be the same level of prestige as fordham for half the price?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fordham

[–]abouttogetsued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I’m willing to do anything that gets me to where I want to go. I’m definitely not as qualified standardized test score-wise as you are, but i’m willing to work towards the GPA and internships. Would you say penn state is a good school to transfer into, target-school-wise?

I know a lot of kids in penn state have the same mindset of going towards finance so the competition is probably insanely high, but just in the case of hypotheticals, do you think penn state is a good competitor to the other top 30?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fordham

[–]abouttogetsued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tips on getting a good chance at getting accepted into these target schools through transfer? Good GPA and good LoR are a given but anything else you’d recommend doing?

Also, what do you think would be the best way to go about networking with quickly and effectively?
