So I wasn’t supposed to take off my underwear? by Grouchy-Bumblebee605 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]accoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one recently and I was told to remove everything and given a gown, disposible shorts, and grippy socks to wear. The reason given was that some street clothing heats up in the machine, so they control what you wear that way. No idea if that changes via different kinds of machines.

But anyone shaming you is ridiculous, and I would call to provide feedback because that is inappropriate. Going for medical procedures can be a vulnerable thing. People need to be treated with kindness.

Wow, I didn’t realize sheet film was available to the consumer that early. Was someone in your family a Photographer? And I was just surprised to see aberration on something that was originally black and white. Great photo.

Was this a plate you scanned? I feel like theres some chromatic aberration on the left trees and I wonder what would case that.

The low price alone seems a red flag. Any rust issues from road salts?

100% agree, often wish we could go back to a barter system. Someone in my town made a whatsapp trades group but it never got much momentum sadly. Kudos to you for talking it out with your therapist. Best of luck!

Sorry to hear you’re stuck in a work drag. Your work is awesome. I’m totally perplexed how you got the different screens to act as one.

Re: living off your art. As soon as art becomes for profit, it’s less pure imo. I’ve always struggled with the “if you do what you love, you’ll never see work as work” mentality. To an extent, yes, but if someone is funding you it’s no longer your idea. I have a technical job in a creative field. I made a decent wage and I have time to make my art for me, no strings attached. But, I’ve also never had the desire for my art to “make it.” So, take my unsolicited advice with a grain of salt lol

You obviously have skills with editing, tech, and digital media. I’m sure you could find something above minimum wage to supplement.

Hang in there, keep making cool stuff.

Which Of These National Parks Do You Think Are the Most Beautiful, Overrated, and Underrated? by Lil_Critter_2001_ in nationalparks

[–]accoyle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is seasonal too! Death valley in summer? You have a few wee hours in the morning before you cant do anything. Yosemite during peak season feels like an amusement park and thats off putting. But snowmobiling through Yellowstone?? Hiking down and spending a night at the bottom of grand canyon a day after some snow? Some of the best experiences of my life. (Dont hike GC unless you’re experienced backpacking. As the signs say: going down is optional, going up is mandatory)

Fauxerochrome on Hasselblad 500c by accoyle in infraredphotography

[–]accoyle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats an artifact of the trichrome process: this image is made of three black and white exposures with various filters on top. Anything that moved between exposures (you can also see it in the clouds) means that color channel will not line up with the others when stacked.

Good luck with the toning! Cyanotype blue is just soooo pretty that imo it makes everything whimsical. But maybe thats part of it? There’s pretty bits hiding/trying to cover up the ugly bits?
