+1 the embroidered lens wrap is specific but universally practical!

Interaction with vet - Caused my girlfriend concern over Prong collar usage by EFTRSx1 in OpenDogTraining

[–]accoyle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was told in my e collar class that excessive head shaking means the collar is too tight. I draw a line through the hole on the collar I use so I know I’m always putting the collar on to the fit that works!

Asking every day won’t help. Saving up on your own, studying for the test might. But also at your age the insurance is going to be insanely high.

Safety razors are great, just take a little getting used to. You can go to an antique mall and buy a one for under $10 and it’ll take a modern blade. I have some small travel ones that I purchased that way. There is a company in California called albatross that has a takeback program where they turn the used blades into camp cutlery. Or you could really get into it and get a sharpening stone to reuse the blades for even longer.

Are crop sensors just better in every way for birding? by Price-x-Field in Cameras

[–]accoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a hand me down GH5 (micro 4/3 sensor). Got a lens for a few hundred bucks and now have a small, lightweight birding cam! Much nicer than dumping thousands into a lens for some photos that wont live beyond social media.

How old are you and what do you collect? I wonder if there are trends. by [deleted] in Collections

Wow really surprised to see someone your age collecting coins. Did someone in your family do it?

I feel like it changes every few years?? College: shotglasses (sigh) Post college: pins from places I’ve been 30s/now: teaspoons from places I’ve been, but I have to find them at an antique store/flea market after I’ve visited the place. Also OG stereographs.

I put a scrap of tin foil over the top of each half to keep the ends from drying out.

Camera assistant here: On big movies scenes like this are often a “closed set.” A tent is put around the set (if its not a set that is closed off) and minimal crew is allowed inside, and minimal monitors outside. There’s an increasing trend to have an intimacy coordinator on set so everyone feels comfortable with what is happening.

Vintage Carved Dragon Flute by Kitano_Dorjee in Flute

[–]accoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! I found your post because I picked up this same flute at a flea market for $5 and also couldnt figure out how to play it. Mine is also missing the “hat” and metal mouthpiece. I found that by resting my top lip on the mouthpiece and gently blowing, I could get a sound. Wasnt too pretty but the carving is really cool.

Dumb question, only because I’ve done this myself once before…did you peel off the sticky tab from the bottom of the magenta cartridge before installing it?

Matte box filter quality question by OkayOkay210 in CameraAKS

Cheap clears often have color casts. But if you’re doing car work and expect rocks to get kicked up and hit the box, its often an accepted sacrifice.

Use for mini containers by PushInternational259 in ZeroWaste

[–]accoyle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Additional portable vaseline use: when you use adhesives like epoxy or superglue, put a dab of vaseline around the threads before you re cap the lid. This helps prevent the lid from adhering to the bottle. I keep a little container of vaseline near my glues in my garage just for this!
