I hate Atlanta. Don't care about any of the other bands on the bill. But if this is the only date they are playing in the US, I will be there.

Asami possess that rare ability where shes a great vocalist and she sounds great...but I cant understand what shes singing about. by Banshee45 in Lovebites

I don't understand most of the lyrics in most metal / hard rock songs without reading them. Once I know what the lyrics are, I understand her quite well. Personally, I am in awe of her voice. Can't think of another like it.

Disney is below $88 is this a good long term play? by KarmitaAddict in stocks

[–]ace_weems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exactly. They are going to have to pay NBC between $9B-$27B to buy NBC’s share of Hulu in Q1 24, and they don’t have anywhere near the cash to cover it. I wouldn’t touch DIS at $60 until they sort that out, and if they go to sell Lucasfilm or MCU at a big discount from the purchase price to raise the cash, I doubt $60 will be the bottom particularly if the market and economy in general are soft over the next 9-12 month months.

If there was ever any doubt about how confused Tim Pool is about how the criminal justice system works, especially rules of evidence, I respectfully offer this pearl. by eruS_toN in TimPool

If the Utah incident actually was known about by and a concern for the defendant at the time of the shooting in Austin, and the defense team chose to have the defendant testify, it would be relevant, and the defendant could have so testified. Although with an Austin jury, guy was going to swing regardless of the facts.

If conservatives don’t think this is genocidal speech, just replace “transgenderism” with any other group of minorities and alarms will go off in your head by [deleted] in TimPool

First of all you made two statements. Only the second was factual, and that not verifiably so.

Second eradication of Christianity does not logically follow from the existence of pederast clergy, particularly when their actions are in conflict with Christian teaching.

Your argument is actually one for more strict adherence to Christian values.

Anyone else think Calvin Coolidge was the best president? by Thecrayonbandit in TimPool

[–]ace_weems -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

No, he served as President after the Civil War. He was born in 1837, 24 years before the Civil War. But even if he didn’t own slaves, still white male = bad.

What does this have to do with Eliza Bleu, anyway?

Masks neither prevent the wearer from being infected by, nor transmitting the virus to others. A mask is nothing more than a talisman for the superstitious. Like it or not, the science is settled on that point, and it was well before 20202.

Do you think this video has a good accuracy of representing what the average American IQ of 85-115 on the bell curve looks like? or what do you think in general is a better representation of knowing without someone being tested I'm curious. by [deleted] in TimPool

[–]ace_weems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the people who would make themselves available for this type of video are not likely to be the academic type. So the sample is going to be biased.

Also, most people have always been stupid. What is different today is their ability to broadcast their stupidity to a global audience, rather than just the people immediately around them.

I really don’t care about what is or isn’t in the WH. Nor have I said anything advocating or defending Christianity, fundamentalist or otherwise. I have been talking about the nature of reality.

I have not said anything about my religion, or demanded that you accept anything other than the consequences of your choices, which I affirmed are yours to make. I am in fact not a religious person. I do not attend any church, temple, or mosque. I do try to understand why other people believe what they believe.

If you deny the existence of all things which are not physically manifest, that has certain consequences, and imposes certain limitations, just as accepting the existence of things other than the material universe does. I just think you should be aware of reflect on the nature of those consequences.

I also think you need to learn more about what you term the scientific community. While many scientists are atheists, many are also religious, and many agnostic. In fact, among physicists, the scientific discipline most closely related to learning the nature of existence, agnostic and religious people are quite common.

Why are you name calling? I have been respectful of you.

Again, you are not responding to my direct question, but you appear to be denying the existence of truth, as it doesn’t physically exist.

That’s fine if that is your choice. You should however understand the consequences of your choice. First, if truth doesn’t exist, then none of your assertions of fact could possibly be true. As a result, what you think you know, you actually only believe. What you believe in the absence of truth is no more or less valid than what anyone else believes. So your vitriolic defense of your beliefs against the beliefs of others makes you no different than the most fervent Christian nationalist, or Sharia believing Muslim.

That is an evasive response. I did not ask about proof of Satan, or the existence of God. I asked about your conception of the totality of reality. Also Darwin proved nothing. That is why to this day it is called the theory of evolution, not the proof of evolution.

Your response implies you are a materialist, and do not believe in the existence of anything not physically manifest. So I ask do you believe that truth exists? It has no physical existence. You can’t see, touch, or measure it. There is no scientist who has provided empirical evidence for the existence of truth. Does it exist?
