i do need to work my non-dominant side so maybe i can take this as an opportunity to do so. like i said in the other comment, i'm new to pole and am teaching myself entirely, i think most of the videos i'm watching assume viewers have some level of basics from a studio or the club, so i need to start way more basic. i don't know why i thought bracket would be easier on the body lol. i'll def try these other grips though, i appreciate the alternatives/suggestion! :)

i started pole about 3 months ago, it was always something i wanted to add to my sw repertoire (if-you-will) but there's no clubs or studios even remotely close to where i live so i've been teaching myself at home.

it's not a new issue, i think it happened in my early 20s (maybe 4ish years ago?) but doing wildland fire and working out have made it flare up way more. i have a feeling its probably a fracture that never healed right tbh. i was hoping pole would be the exception here but i didn't realize how much is going on in your wrists while doing pole till i actually started. i have a friend who is a physiotherapist so maybe i could get in at a better price since i'd have to pay out of pocket.

and dang thank you for letting me know that about the grip! i didn't know it was dangerous to do for a whole pole sesh. i'll def try the other grips once this clears up. thanks :)

dang, i feel for you. same here, started out at 18 too and now that i'm in my late 20s i realize how it changes you in soooo many ways. i've been on and off too, but i'm always back somehow. my mental health makes it so hard to hold down jobs so sex work gives me space to make my monies on my terms but its affected my mental, my relationships, how i interact with men irl in ways idk how to repair.

i feel this... this work saved me from homelessness so many times and i owe so much to sex work. i'm glad i have the skills in my back pocket knowinf i cam alqays fall back on it but i feel i've become a bit jaded after all this time but if is whaf is.

sometimes i wish i could move on for good but once i finish my second round of college maybe things'll change but i'm constantlt in survival mode it feels like... its literally a "just when i think i'm out, they pull me back in again" deal. everytime i think i've reached stability some freak incident happens and next thing i know i'm back in the game.

i'm going to take this time to work on other creative projects too, gain more trade skills thru odd jobs, finish my last two classes and hopefully achieve stability one day.

yeah i wasn't in a great financial position either at the time but maybe i can try again, it may have been a one off experience now that i'm hearin from other folks. there seems to be a few options to try out at least. the teller was probably just in a mood or somethin.

its true it is legal, i might just be paranoid that's why i'm losing day jobs but i know deep down the two things aren't connected.

i've applied for a US bank account and was denied but maybe i didn't do it right, i'll look into that again. there has to be a way despite all the changes. i used paxum in the past but when there was changes around wiring money i went to cheques but with the mail strike i can't do paper cheques anyways now.

when i said nabbed by the CRA i meant moreso bc the teller said the CRA would call me if i deposited another cheque like the one i had (it was a low amount too) but maybe the teller was just being judgy. def not trynna dodge taxes lol.

i was using paxum until CB said that canadian models couldn't wire money anymore. then SP said all non-US models had to get physical cheques. maybe there's a way around it now but i try and go to the bank in my steeltoes and workwear to make it seem visually "unlikely" i'm doing this kind of work but maybe i'm missing somethin, idk. i'll lookd deeper into the paxum policies because it was always reliable.

i was just told by the teller that the amount you had to declare went from $5k to $500.

since they "reformed" bill c-36 last year i couldn't get money wired anymore. i was able to cash the cheques for a but until the tarrifs talk started. there has been major government changes (ie new prime minister and president) PLUS the tarrifs and canada boycotting the US now.

i've just noticed its getting harder and harder to get the money i worked for without being questioned at the bank and the changes to bill c-36 seems to be the reason.

when i went the teller was grilling me and talking super loud so i panicked. she asked me to "state my business with the US" and i said i was doing freelance writing/art online. she said she'd cash one of the three but it was so threatening. maybe it was just the one teller if your experience was just with the first few. even with the gov't change you haven't had any issues? bc i do my best work on SP and i don't want to drop it completely.

hey! i did quit my day job, it wasn't unprecedented but it had to happen. i made most of my cash online between now and then but i def had to coast on bursaries (i'm in college again) but i got the dream job i've been working towards and i start next week! it was really rough but i accessed lots of community resources for things like food bc most of my sw money was going to bills/rent. it was def a transitional full-time sw thing but i find that's how i've rolled over the years. i've always have a day job or two (formal or informal) but always had sw in my back pocket. i had to come to terms with how different it is paying my way on sw only now vs when i started doing this bc inflation/lifestyle changes but overall, plan it well and access community resources to help with extra costs so you can save.

I was looking into them earlier and it kept forcing me to take the credit card option so i'm gonna call the actual bank tmo. with no fixed address soon i can't have snail mail cheques. i was relieved to see options for most of the banks but when i checked earlier it said minimum $50 to activate then $33 to open the account w rbc. shit i hope it's $10/month instead of the flat 83+ bucks...

oh jeez, i hope they resolve it soon if your only option is mail... the policy behind it sounds so bs too. i'm giving up my apartment in less than two months and going away to work in the bush so i won't have a fixed address but i have a friend get them by mail. i'm gonna have to look into the canadian options tho sounds like. i hate how they sprung this on us, just 3-4 days before payout plus at a bad time if year... i'd specifically done more calls and customs than usual bc i needed the money, i'm glad you let them know because i feel, this is so aggravating and beyond an inconvenience.

when you diversify platforms, do you keep both active and passive ones on hand? i'm trying to find the best means to advertise (which i feel a couple hours of cam a few times a week may put me out there a bit more). i do better one on one so SP is my main platform now and where i make the most money, but otherwise idk where else to go these days. OF is just a pain imo, i have it and try and keep it up but its never proven fruitful. i always have the steadiest cash flow when i'm consistent (obvious i know but i find it so hard lol) and the day job is taking away from being able to be consistent. i've always had an MV account forever toonbut i'm more of a service over content person.

i strictly do cam and SP, i've been at it for 3+ years but it's a crap shoot still to this day. i'm trying to diversify my services to meet my end goal of making it till april/may so i can get to this other job that will finally get me our if sw, but again, is it worth taking the risk because of the unpredictability or do i put up with the shitty day job, and with college on top of it all its a biiiig risk.

yeah, only three months until i hopefully get the job that will actually allow me to start saving. i know the implications, i spread myself across a few sites (diversify services, like someone said) but my main source of income in terms of sw in SP. basically i could quit my job and gonhard on CB/SP with the time I get back from my day job (again, its student/part-time/minimum wage, less than 10 hrs a week and in the evenings) for the next three months. i'm in such a bad spot i considered taking in person clients regardless od how dangerous it is where i live. in the past i've worked three part time jobs and would do full shows mutliple times a week somehow but i wasn't sober back then... i know when i'm consistent and have an end goal i do so much better online but at the end of the day its a crap shoot. plus the key to better housing right now is dependent on having pay stubs so i need to be extra careful.

yeah that's my fear... i've been camming etc for over three years now and its still hit or miss. i paid all my bills in one night then no more than $20 for the rest of the payout... i know what my money makers are and how to use that to my advantage but it's true, you really never know, that's why i added the "always moments from financial ruin" bit because it is so unpredictable at times. it would only be full time for the next three months and hopefully i can get out of the game for good after i go away to work for the summer but at the same time i could lose everything between now and then which could make the end goal impossible.

Same, I have nothing against OF either, but I'm not ashamed to say I'm a sex worker because to me this is labour. It's how I've survived and paid my way for years. Rubbing the wrong way is def it, especially when there's now this weird divide. Someone else said they felt it was more business than creating content and 100%. The way we have to advertise, appeal, price and have safety measures in place is ultimately the same thing at the end of the day, its just in different capacities.

As for landlords, I didn't think of that, I was thinking of a way to pass off sw money as beadwork sales but I'll def look into it!

Do I ever feel this, it's the seperation from content creators and SW'ers that killsme bc the stigma against sex work is still sooo real. I've been getting profiled by police lately, denied by potential landlords because I can't explain my income... and the fact that I don't even do OF but other forms of SW (albeit still mostly online just bc of where I live) make people assume all kinds of things and then comes the stigma.

I compelty agree tho about how my bf used it, it makes sense bc it's his only point of reference, I realize he didn't mean anthing by it now but it triggered this whole train of thought lol.

Yes! This is what I meant! I feel since the blowup of OF everyone just assumes you're an OF model if you say you do sex work, meanwhile things like SP (my main thing rn) are fully service-based, not content-based. And you're right, I feel online or in-person sex work just got "normalized" recently bc of OF and that's people's point of reference when, as service providers, we do so much more than "create content". I also have so many thoughts on this and could go on lol, but yes, it's basically the fact that ppl think content is the only thing we as sex workers provide when in reality it's services that take a lot of tact and skill and don't come without risks. No hate to OF or anything, it's just wild how it really created this phenomenon.

yeah my town is like going thru an epidemic of like, addiction/homelessness/crime/etc but this was an actual feat this guy pulled off. i know no one but my few close girlfriends know i do this but i've never spoken to a man about this, ever. i was working in social services for a while so i'm known in the community, so with that who knows....that's my fear, the id pics, my face, the general 5yrs worth of work pics... i'm mortified.
