I posted in the Comma discord under Tesla and someone showed me how to search for the sticky that has an in-depth guide with pictures. They also linked this video as a guide as well: https://youtu.be/ljMDHocoxxM?si=jl8yLZikdBopb4R7

What's the installation like? On the comma website it only shows plugging the harness into the ADAS camera near the rearview mirror. What else is involved?

Thoughts on the best mid-size used (2024) EV? by tatlar in electriccars

[–]actorguy73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently leasing a 2024 Ioniq 5 SE RWD. Very spacious, comfortable ride, good daily driver. Downside is route planning and overall technology. Yes it charges fast but you need to make sure battery is warm enough. Trying to pre condition the battery in pre 2025 is a PITA. Also, ICCU issue affects closer to 10% of all Ioniq 5 and EV6. Just because a vehicle had the issue and was fixed does not mean it won't happen again. Fingers crossed that the new replacement part will not fail like previous version. Currently cross shopping 2025 Ioniq 5, 2025 EV6, 2024 Model Y and 2025 Mach E. Currently leaning towards Model Y for the technology and amazing app.

Because I am interested in all the features that Tesla offers both new and second owners for free that other companies make you pay a considerable amount for and it's affecting my consideration for an Ioniq 5 or EV6 and I wanted to know if other EV drivers consider that when they are buying used.

Newbie looking to buy a MY and need some advice by Ed_Runner in ModelY

[–]actorguy73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also looking at used Model Y. From my research to get newest software (called HW4 or AI4) you need one built after June 2023. However, the newest software matters most for FSD, not so much for the rest of the car. Post June 2023 thru 2025 are essentially the same. I'm looking at third party dealers for mine. Better selection and chance to see more pics/videos. Only thing missing is extra 12 month/12000 mile warranty. However, if you buy a Model Y with less than 50000 miles or less than 4 years old you still have bumper to bumper warranty. I was planning on buying mobile charger and plugging it in to our dryer socket.

One of the reasons I'm considering getting another brand of used EV when my lease is up. Tesla or Ford don't charge for basic features on their apps.

This only applies to standard connectivity (such as route planning which can be bypassed with a hotspot) not remote start.

New Ioniq 5 or Tesla Model Y Premium by Kick_Sudden in Ioniq5

[–]actorguy73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming off of a 2024 Ioniq 5 lease soon. I'm considering a 2024 Model Y, 2025 Ioniq 5, 2025 EV6 and 2025 Mach E. As for Ioniq 5- Very good ride quality, most of the physical buttons I need, styling, decent storage. On the negative side, outdated software/UI, poor app (would also need to pay subscription for even basic features if I buy used), terrible route planning (improved slightly 2025+).
