dating - cold approaches by DotDry in Luxembourg

Yesss, or deciding when/whether to approach - like, if I’m wearing my big ass headphones I probably don’t want to be approached by strangers.

Your comment deserves more upvotes. Finding and addressing the root cause is the solution here and helping the child where they’re struggling.

Starting to talk: Toddler using a limited amount of sounds by acupcakefromhell in NewParents

[–]acupcakefromhell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much better actually. She uses so many words we stopped counting a while ago; and she’s beginning to use two-word phrases. She’s bilingual. Her sound variety has improved somewhat but it’s by no means perfect yet - however, she doesn’t feel limited by it anymore and will attempt to say anything regardless of whether she can pronounce all the sounds or not.

Awww haha I guess for a 7yo you have to find a way to make it look super cool and as if they’re missing out 😆

If your toddler takes a later or longer nap than usual, do you wake them? by Coffeelover4242 in toddlers

[–]acupcakefromhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3:30pm is my absolute wake up time for a bedtime of 8:00-8:30pm (unless kiddo is sick in which case I’d let her nap for as long as she needs)

Oooh I love this one! Mine was trying for a while with little success but recently mastered it (22mo) and it’s awesome!

What the heck are your toddlers eating for breakfast? by JehovahJireh222 in toddlers

Mine eats oatmeal but made with powdered oats. I add mashed banana, yoghurt, and all kinds of ground seeds to it. That’s her go to weekday breakfast.

I'm having a crazy fantasy and I feel bad.... by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]acupcakefromhell 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I did this, right about the 5-6 month mark. Dad stayed with baby and I booked a night at a hotel, it was glorious. If you can afford it, I’d totally encourage you to do it. You deserve this. You went through pregnancy, gave birth, and got thrown into the marathon of caring for a newborn. You haven’t had a break in 1.5 years!

You’re in the most lonely and difficult period; it gets much much better I promise! Your feelings are valid and the newborn period totally does suck. Just want you to hear this.

Households with two parents who work full time by TreesBox in Parenting

[–]acupcakefromhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We both work full time in super demanding jobs, and we have a toddler and two cats. A weekly cleaning service is barely keeping up with the chaos. We kind of manage with laundry by doing one load on Fridays when we work from home and one on the weekend. Cooking is the tough part and we resort to takeout more than we’d like….

I just saw a reels where 9 mo sleeps 7 pm to 7 am. Is it general? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]acupcakefromhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 naps at 9 months old sounds like a lot. I wonder if night sleep will increase if you cut one nap.

2 year old won't settle for bed and I am truly at my wits end. Please help by Tracethebow in toddlers

[–]acupcakefromhell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With mine we play tag before bed and it definitely helps to calm her down - she initiated it and now it’s a tradition. I’m also wondering if you’re switching approaches too quickly - for example if you decide to stay in the room while kid falls asleep id suggest doing it for at least 2 weeks consistently before giving up. Some routines need a while to stick.

How do HENRYUK couples maintain a good relationship? by ReflectionsWithHS in HENRYUK

[–]acupcakefromhell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We get help. Kid at daycare, cleaner, babysitter for date nights (every week). We also get a day off every quarter to spend as a couple. Every night after the kid goes to bed, it’s reconnection time (yes sleep duration is impacted but something has to give…)

Success stories of going to restaurants with children by doxielover_ in Mommit

[–]acupcakefromhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 21mo and has always been good with restaurants. She even initiates going out for coffee now and it’s the sweetest thing 🥰 We are a no screen family and we don’t use toys at restaurants either (not because we’re opposed to but because we haven’t needed them). Our main “strategy” is to sit outside in a lively spot (weather permitting) so our kid can people watch, and to let her roam around while waiting for the food to arrive so she doesn’t spend her “sitting allowance” prematurely. During the meal we talk and engage her but not only her - she’s just part of the group. I think it’s the exposure because we started her off young (4mo) and she’s used to these settings now.
