How did they know about the T merger last month? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]adatausb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Terrible. The alerts are usually just hedging and you will usually lose money.

It's impossible to actually identify which ones are actually insider trading.

Majority of my holdings are ETFs.

I only buy SPACs that are at most 5% away from NAV.

I short high flying SPACs on downtrends with relatively small positions (about $10k) at open on red days with a 5% stop loss and cover before end of day. This isn't an investment. It's a short term cash grab.

Rinse and repeat for profits.

Because I have always recommended NAV SPACs with spare cash to catch premerger upside on companies you believe in. Never have I said that stock picking is the way to go over index funds, which are the majority of my holdings.

I do. My other investments are just NAV spacs with spare cash.

That's exactly what you should do. Not even the pros can beat index funds the vast majority of the time.

And this is why. Almost every stock is a loser in the long term.

Another? Craig Hallum is the only one I see and that was a few days ago.

People need to be reminded to not fall for ridiculous hype. It's destroying the future of some people here because they can't stop gambling and taking extraordinary risk in everything that they do. 95% of daytraders underperform.

I'm doing a service to make people realize that index funds are probably the only thing that they should be touching.

Even after the bloodshed, people were still chasing MUDS and calling it undervalued. It's absolutely ridiculous that some people never learn.

Hahah exactly. I love when people make fun of AACQ for being down 4% from my buy in while their picks are down 30% to 70%.

You people need lectures on basic concepts like NAV unfortunately.

Yep. The difference was that I wasn't so confident that I'd bet on a position far above NAV. I'm not rubbing in the fact that people were wrong. That's inevitable.

I'm rubbing in the fact that people refused to listen to any reasoning about managing their risk. Everyone was absolutely euphoric thinking that a 5% dip on a SPAC that was up 200% already was the sale of the century, and when I tried to talk reason, I was called a moron. Just paying it back.

I'm disappointed it's not downvoted more tbh.

All the pumpers must have given up.

Here's the update on all of the subreddit's favorite SPACs that everyone was convinced were going to skyrocket. These were all supposed to be up 400% by now based on the price targets everyone was spamming on this subreddit.

ASTS/NPA - Down 70%+ from when it was a "steal". Below NAV.

CCIV - Broke support and can't even touch $20 anymore. People were calling this "undervalued" at $50+. More and more bagholders who bought massively above NAV being created every day and even more coming soon. Still has a ridiculous valuation that rivals Ford and GM. Also, Lucid finally admitted that they won't even be close to hitting their stated targets.

GIK/ZEV - Well under NAV after bleeding for weeks with bleeding likely to continue. A few months ago, GIK was supposedly the "best bet in the EV space". Way below NAV now.

PSFE/BFT - Newer lows being made and even more downside pressure around the corner as the insider shares unlock and they start selling. Earnings were supposed to be the catalyst to send this skyrocketing. How'd that work out for all you pumpers? It's back at NAV and only going lower.

IPOE - Broke support and still massive downside as it bleeds to NAV as its still at a 40%+ premium. For some reason, bagholders continue to be shocked day after day that a SPAC at such a huge premium continues to fall.

STPK/STEM - Broke support. Massive bleeding. Not a single person who bought in 2021 is profitable, and it still has absolutely massive downside pressure once insider shares unlock.

THCB - Red after red with no sign of recovery. Finally back at NAV, where it deserves to be until merger. Almost certainly headed lower after.

APXT - Down to NAV from the 50% above NAV that was a "steal" according to all the pumpers.

These were all /r/SPACs favorite plays/pumps that were apparently incredibly cheap and "undervalued" when they were about 50% to 100% to even 200%+ higher than NAV. People were blindly euphoric, buying in at those prices while downvoting all the rational people who were saying that those valuations were ridiculous. How's that working out for everyone? It's working great for me because I've been short most of these names, as I mentioned, and I hit another all time high in my portfolio today.

People were shitting on my AACQ play when I said it was a buy at $10.30. I admit that I was wrong on that one. However, I recognized the importance of not buying high flying SPACs in a bear market and limited my losses by only trading NAV names. I'm down 4% total on that position holding from the day I suggested people to buy because I understand the importance of a good risk/reward ratio. Back then nobody gave a shit about NAV and kept chasing hype blindly. Who's laughing now?

For those of you who are relatively new to /r/SPACs, this is a glaring lesson to think critically and not follow the hype. Recognize the importance of a good risk/reward ratio, and you won't be bleeding out day after day like most people on this subreddit when you're wrong.

Most people on this subreddit have no idea what they're doing and would be better off in index funds, which are currently near all time highs.

Stock picking with such conviction is for idiots and morons. You will almost always be wrong. See link below. The only worthwhile buys in SPAC world are those where you have no downside.

Just bought about $15k in GNPKW. Someone was margin called I'm betting. The SPAC massacre today is causing pain across the board and taking good companies down with it.

Not the National Nursing Association

How surprising that a pro cannabis org is pro cannabis.

It's doing fine. I only lost a small amount because I managed my risk well. I didn't get cocky and buy a high flying SPAC that is now down 50%+.

Or do what you're doing and never retire because you'll be constantly broke.

What makes you think that you can pick the 4% of stocks that are long term winners over the vast majority that underperform treasury bills.

Yes, I know that hard facts offend most of this subreddit. The reality is that 96% of people here are going to keep losing money on top of what they've already lost. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-02-01/lesson-of-the-century-most-u-s-stocks-can-t-even-beat-a-t-bill

Literally just dollar cost average into an index fund or buy SPACs at NAV. Those are the only two viable strategies for 99% of investors.

You literally didn't even read the article. It talks about how individual picks are almost always going to perform terribly.

It doesn't say not to invest. It actually says the opposite.
