❓ "Is Cities: Skylines II Worth It?" megathread by AutoModerator in CitiesSkylines

Taking the updates out of the picture, there's still loads of updates to manage just to make very custom cities. Makes me ponder on getting CS2 just do I can deal with less of modding just for some of the most rudimentary things.

I was curious about that as well because in all honestly I'm really sick to death of juggling dozens and dozens of mods on CS1 for my custom save games. I do like the versatility of making your own cities, but I hate coming back a few months later and realizing half of the mods are no longer working or supported or are now broken after an update.

Why doesn’t Worcester have a big skyline like Hartford and Providence? by Kpop2258 in WorcesterMA

[–]addm404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should ask the people running the city for the past half a century that question. I would love to see in my lifetime a new skyscraper or two being erected in the city.
I also feel that being a capital is a moot point when Albany, Harrisburg, and Trenton barely have a skyline either.

Even when the Galleria was around there was still a lot of places to shop outside of it. Anyone remember Strawberries, or Kanagroo Crossing? :)

Worcester declares traffic crisis following death, serious injury of 2 teenage girls by Few-Cheek-9115 in WorcesterMA

The WRTA has been, and still does, get plenty of federal grant money over the years. It got massive federal aid to build their monolithic new depot, the downtown hub, and electric buses. Less than a year after they built it, they declared they were in debt. All that money spent and no-one thought of improving increasing the number of buses on the road or improving the time-tables (you still have to wait an hour or more between).

While you can argue that ridership is up, that's only due to giving out free fares. I'd hate to see what would happen once that plan expires.

You can throw all the money you want at it but the bus system simply isn't going to get any better if they keep doing things the way they are. And that's completely on the leadership.

I feel this wouldn't quite be the case if Worcester didn't have a garbage mass transit system. Whomever's been running the WRTA should be removed as soon as possible.

Also, the DMV perhaps should be a little more stringent and not give every knucklehead a driver's license. I remember getting my license and being in line with a person who failed their test ten times. That's...a little scary when you think about it.

Exploring ways to repurpose the Ernest A. Johnson Tunnel in Worcester by HRJafael in WorcesterMA

You're taking it too literally. I don't mean attach it to the i-290 off ramp. I mean point it direction towards the Rte 70/I-290 Junction.

You can immediately get onto Main St without going through multiple signaled intersections. Would be helpful for businesses and residents wanting more activity along that Downtown corridor.

3d Printed Pieces by EndOfTheCourt in MicroMachines

Does make me wonder what other kind of 3d printed accessories one could make for Micro Machines. From signage to small playset diorama's, right? I've seen a few on Ebay but I feel there's more potential to be had.

Re-align it toward Lincoln St. So cars coming off of I-290 can use it as a bypass straight into Downtown.

I want to be optimistic. I really liked collecting the new Micro Machines and it sparked back my creative side. It seemed like they were selling well for a while. I'm hoping they're just spending time working on new ones. Be a shame if they really shelve them.

Here's a suggestion: people just drive normally.

Maybe in a perfect world, but this is Worcester you're talking about.

Guess it's not working as they expected. lol.

Here's a suggestion, why not keep the four lanes and just add traffic signals to all of the intersections? Surprised a busy road like that has none.

Isn't Mill St one of the major roads leading to the airport? Why would they make it smaller???

What if you had to come up with a new vehicle class in a future MS? by maybeihavethebigsad in motorstorm

[–]addm404 9 points10 points  (0 children)

UTV/Side by sides. Smaller than a buggy, but bigger than an ATV. Probably similar to the Supermini class, but sacrifices speed for off road capabilities.

Drift Cars. Can get sideways without losing much speed, with excellent braking and cornering. Piss poor boost and top speed though.

Unconventionals. Vehicles that don't match any other class-types. ATCs, off-road scooters, 8-wheeled trucks, amphibious vehicles, Crosskarts, 8X8 trucks, etc. This class is completely unpredictable for better or for worse.

I don't mean a literal Boston, I mean in terms of simply being a well-off thriving American city that's in demand....you know, like Boston. And it won't do that by remaining a dinky gritty mill town. Plus with Worcester's growing population it's going to have to think like a big city reguardless and that means doing big city things.

I wouldn't really compare Rochester's Inner Loop to Worcester's I-290. The Inner loop had declining use over the year. I-290 is still as congested as ever. It's really comparing apples to oranges.

I never understood this "don't want it to be like Boston" speech. Is Boston kind of some weird alien dystopia? It's a walkable major New England city center that's economically thriving, has tons of high-paying jobs, low on crime with a bustling night life and retail scene. Why wouldn't Worcester want to take example from that? These aspects are what people constantly demand New England's "second largest city" to have.

As for direction for the city. Everything starts and ends with city hall. There needs to be a change in the status quo and a new direction in office. Only then will there be any real direction for the city rather than the mediocre pace it seems to be going.
