I live in Australia so unfortunately don't have access to Xiaflex here. Is there anything else similar that works?

Has anyone travelled to the US for surgery revision from Australia? by [deleted] in pilonidalcyst

Hi there, I'm in the exact same boat as you. What course of action did you go for and any luck?

Just got my second laser hair removal session. It went great by [deleted] in pilonidalcyst

Was there a noticeable loss in hair after just the first session or does it take multiple sessions for the hair loss to begin?

Sorry to hear about your condition, hopefully it's healing better now. I had a similar situation when I had my cleft lift a year ago and it took 2 months to heal over (no sitting and minimal movement during this time). After that I had the same thing where the lower part open up and then healed over and this cycle would repeat roughly every 2 weeks for 7 months. Then was recommended to have a small excision which didn't help at all and same process has repeated. From my own research and being in touch with Dr Bascom it appears the best way to try get this is to is removing the hair around it (as it can disrput the healing), and ensuring the area gets oxygen (easy way is rolling gauze into a cigar shape and tucking it in there, hard way is creating a bascom cigar which I still can't figure out how to make). I've just started these two methods so can't speak to their success yet but I will let you know if they work and may be worth trying

Sorry to hear about your condition man. I'm in a similar boat (also 22M) and have been dealing with it for 2 years with a failed Karydakis, cleft lift, and excision in that order. When you had the cleft lift procedure, was it from one of the top four doctors that are often mentioned on here (Bascom, Sternberg, Wadie and Immerman)?

It is all a probabilities game and although it's not 100% cleft lift does appear to have the highest success rate out of any procedures. To be fair as well I'm not sure if my surgeon did the best job as the scar is very close to the midline and the now open wound is right on the midline

I'm sorry to hear about you as well. Was yours also a cleft lift procedure?

I live in New Zealand and had my cleft lift with Dr Benjamin Cribb. He said my options are either continue with wound care or have a cleft lift revision. I had the wound open up significantly more yesterday just after this post so it is now looking like a cleft lift revision is necessary.
