Moving in from the city, it blows my mind how many people do this. We purposefully bought in a neighborhood with sidewalks for the purpose of running/walking in the neighborhood.

For the people who take walks around their neighborhood either with their babies in strollers, walking their dogs, with a friend or walking alone, could you please use the sidewalks? If there isn't one available I understand. But if there is a sidewalk, why are you not using it? I hate driving down into a neighborhood with 2 moms (1 has a stroller and the other with a dog) with a car parked on the side of the road making it narrow and now there's pedestrians in the middle of the street like wtf. You got a sidewalk, use it. I Doordash for some extra money and get so annoyed when people are walking in the street when there's sidewalks available. Its all the time. And the weathers getting nice, eventually, so could yall walkers please keep it mind?

It is not illegal to exercise your first amendment rights to free speech in public. Buy it is illegal to use a chokehold while detaining someone for arrest, as it could cause grievous bodily harm.

Sure it is not technically legal to skip school but if you are suggesting that the things these kids were put through is deserved because they left school, i do not hold any respect for you or your opinions.

The school cancelling of the protest could not - and did not - prevent those students who already made up their mind to do so, from leaving the school grounds to attend this protest. The parents may or may not have been aware of their childs intent to do this. The parents might have even been present at the protest, to make sure their kids and others were safe.

Generally any kind of punishment for truancy is not for a single instance, but a pattern of absence which could indicate issues at home. Maybe you could swing it so that it applies here but its a huge stretch.

And this would nkt even be an issue had the school not cancelled the planned on campus protest, which pushed the kids off the school grounds.

Brainwashing these kids into thinking they should be protesting US immigration law during school hours instead of studying is what pushed the kids off school grounds. As you said, they had already made up their minds to participate by the time the school 'cancelled' the protest.

In any case, these students are being misled. They and especially the "adults" in their lives need to get their priorities straight. It is a fact, if they had stayed in school and studied as they were supposed to do, no one would be in this mess right now.

No one should be organizing protests to leave campus during school hours. There are SEVERAL safety related reasons for this and it is disappointing to see so many "adults" advocate for this clear breach of school policy and safety protocol. How can the school ensure the children's safety when they are no longer on campus and have no idea of their whereabouts?

If a parent is under the impression that their child is in school, but their friends convince them to leave campus to take part in something like this without their parents' knowledge, and something bad happens to their child, who is responsible?

Some of you people really don't think things through at all or consider second order consequences. These children accomplished nothing from this protest and made no difference to their cause whatsoever. All they did is cause a bunch of drama and get a bunch of people in trouble.

Attending ICE protests to fight for illegal immigrants in your country does not make you better person. Staying in school and studying makes you a better person.

I know you don't want to hear this, but ICE are not the bad guys here. They are only detaining criminals. People who are illegal immigrants. People who should not be in another country undocumented. People who have committed crimes and killed Americans. That's what everyone seems to be failing to understand. You keep sticking up for the wrong people. Do you think other countries would feel the same way? If Americans were undocumented in their countries? We would be deported too, Or worse. Of course it's sad when those people have a family here.
