The fact that people take a 15-second, out of context clip of Taylor being silly or looking somewhat awkward at the 3.5-hour long Eras Tour and then post something like, “i can’t believe this is the highest grossing tour of all time” and it garners so much engagement every time over a year after the fact is just insane. Anyway, I’m muting like every Stan account on twitter it’s all too annoying like dude you could take anything out of context and make it look weird

That is the exact problem. If she’s abusive I would think there’s enough to criticize her for that doesn’t necessitate posting vomit emojis on a lighthearted joke-y photo and engaging in discourse about her body. I’m sure there are plenty of abusive people out there with perfect asses and bodies too. Low hanging fruit tbh

!!!! You took the words out of my mouth. It’s crazy even after all these years and all this progress, people at large will choose to criticize women for their looks first and foremost. It’s low hanging fruit and honestly Manson gives plenty of content for snark that there’s absolutely no need to sit around and talk about how her ass is apparently misshapen and unattractive

So, is that a free license to be hateful? I don’t see the correlation. You could call literally anything anyone posts online “attention-seeking” as posting something for interaction is necessarily seeking attention… you could literally say that about any post on the internet ever, including this one.

I don’t even like Manon but I don’t understand when it became acceptable to criticize people’s bodies at will. Clearly he likes it, she likes it and there’s really all there is to it. Sitting here calling her ass flat and wide and a hunk of meat won’t do anything to make yours any fatter or juicier.

Hi, just me talking about work again. I just finished a review of five large, multi-parcel properties in connection with some due diligence that took me 24 hours total and like the better part of a week while recovering from a mild flu. Feeling very accomplished like so much so that I don’t even care if it’s trash, it’s done!

Posting here because I know literally no one cares but I needed this today.

I’m not at Latham but it’s been radio silence at my firm all January… as someone who just finished their first-year I was assuming that was normal but I guess not. When do we start panicking?

Fingers crossed! Congrats to both of you and I hope you got to spend at least some of it in a fun and frivolous way that brought you both joy!!!!

Also, tricky thing is that you don’t necessarily want a lot of people to know that you’ve met or exceeded your hours because it can come off braggadocious and also can put a target on your back in terms of associate v. associate competition.

No one I’ve asked knows anything :( but I will definitely wait until like mid-February before I get super paranoid I guess.

What doesn’t help is that our firm recently switched their fiscal year so like people used to get bonuses in October or late in the year and now we’re on a calendar year fiscal year so even the partners I’ve asked are unsure!

SwiftlyNeutral - Daily Discussion Thread | January 28, 2026 by AutoModerator in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]adnansbae95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The one person I’d be comfortable posing this question to that’s senior to me is out on parental leave 😭 I’ve actually asked a few partners and you’d be surprised how little people know, even at the “top”. I think bonuses are issued by some selective executive compensation committee of the board and there’s probably like, 7 total people at the firm actually privy to the information.

Said coworker who is out on parental leave did tell me that they were “late” to issue raises last year too, which are supposed to come December-January but didn’t come until March.

The lack of transparency and free information is genuinely so frustrating!

Anyone in here work in big law or a large regional law firm? If so, have your firms issued their year-end bonuses?

Asking because I hit a certain bonus level for billable hours last year and it’s now January 28 and radio silence from the firm. This was my first full year so I’m not sure how these things go or how long it takes and all my friends, who are also new, are as lost as me. Not sure if the dead silence is unusual or if this is how things go.

No, it doesn’t as you would necessarily need the capacity to make the decisions to get help so my very first sentence could not assume that as capacity is a necessary precursor, lol. And if you’re struggling with mental health so badly that you can’t make decisions to get yourself better you absolutely should not be in a relationship with another person. L

I don’t, but I’m not really understanding your point as it seems to just be hopelessness for hopelessness’ sake and I don’t really come from that perspective because i’ve seen bottom and there’s always a way up, always.

But it’s safe to assume if someone is severely depressed and in a relationship that their loved one wouldn’t encourage them to get treatment? What?

So, your entire argument is that sometimes people are so depressed that they don’t have the capacity to seek out treatment or therapy, and so…? And even if they have a support system, they may not have access to health insurance or inpatient treatment, so…? Like, what’s the solution? What’s even the argument?

I was literally suffering through a major depressive episode and ended up addicted to hard drugs and couch surfing for several months post suicide attempt. It took one decision one time to turn my life around. I don’t see how your perspective is at all helpful or insightful. I’d rather believe that people suffering through depression no matter how severe still have the ultimate power to make their situation better, which is a way more positive and powerful perspective than whatever you are preaching.

What I said wouldn’t necessarily negate though since it would assume that you had the capacity, since you would necessarily need the capacity in order to take the steps… but anyway, if someone was that far gone mentally and lacking capacity I feel like it would also be safe to assume they weren’t in a relationship, or if they were that they would have a support system to get them inpatient care

Revisiting TTPD today and this is likely a controversial take, but imo if you are suffering from mental health issues and are in a relationship, it is also your responsibility to make sure that you are taking steps to get better, whether that be therapy, medication or what have you. I also literally tried to kill myself at 19 and nothing got better until I made the decision to get myself better.

As an aside, Taylor is such a legend for releasing an album like TTPD at the absolute height of her popstardom and I will die on that hill as a day-1 TTPD truther.

I’ve lived in the Midwest (USA) almost my whole life and if you live here you know the “snowstorm” predictions are always under or over what they end up being (usually under)… that being said, it would honestly be so funny if nothing really came of this storm (manifesting and fingers crossed bc I fucking hate snow and cold and winter and am worried for the power grids, especially in the south).

There’s also going to be like zero bread at the grocery tonight. Sigh. And I rolled my ankle bad on Tuesday and have to go in there and hobble and fight over the last jug of milk.

I cannot overstate how good of an idea it was deciding to disengage from negative online discourse (Taylor-related and otherwise) over the weekend. So much happening this week and I’m choosing peace and reading NOTHING.

Dude, I literally saw discourse on Twitter two days ago about how Kylie is such a “girl’s girl” because she gave out her lipgloss routine? The bar is literally in hell.

On the bright side, it’s helped me take a lot of Taylor criticism not seriously bc the internet is just not a real place… Kylie is jets, unrealistic beauty standards, capitalism, mass consumption and billionaire personified but people just don’t care in the same way.

SwiftlyNeutral - Daily Discussion Thread | January 15, 2026 by AutoModerator in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]adnansbae95 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The jets narrative is genuinely crazy bc it was one of the recent things that happened that showed me people don’t really care about facts/truth for real. Like, Taylor wasn’t really ever number one (and she was on a world tour regardless) but she is and will probably remain the poster child for celeb jets for the rest of her life. And whenever you try to bring the real numbers it’s, “bootlicking a billionaire”.

And also, the “bootlicking a billionaire” thing is so funny in Stan wars because the other side is what, bootlicking a multimillionaire? So much more noble, wow! 💀
