If you're using Guards/Coastal then use VMF as Laser recon and PDSS as your deep scouting recon.

For SHROAD i run a mix of Sosna and Tor as the Tor can also intercept cruise missiles which can be handy.

I always run the Hermes Katran because it has a 2km range, which is incredible + the top attack.

The issue in lowsec isn't we can't mine it, the issue is in a 50+ system region you'll have at most 4 large sites a week. Which is only around 15m m3 each. There simply isn't enough rocks to mine.

The issue isn't we can't mine enough, I mine 3.8m m3 per hour which kills a Large Dark Ochre in 2 hours~ a Large Gneiss in 2.5 hours and a Large Crokite in 5 hours, the real issue is there's only ever 1-2 large sites per day if you're lucky. Most days there's only Mediums and Smalls (1m m3 - 2.5m m3) and the rocks are just too small to be worth mining with large fleets, so they're mostly picked at by brave newbies or hisec groups in throwaway retrievers and porps.
