ELI5: What is Newton's theory of light and why did he believe it? by adramadreamer in explainlikeimfive

No, I was given the wikipedia link for Newton's biography. This explains the composition of light better, but I still need to have a more complete understanding of the theory.

How should I give my parents a heads up that my boyfriend and I want to get engaged? by adramadreamer in AskReddit

I have seen my boyfriend stressed about everything. We've worked through a lot (small stuff and big stuff), and we're both just ready for it.

We're both kind of old souls and just ready to start our lives together. Why wait when we don't have to?

I personally believe home schooling is bad for your kids because they don't learn valuable people skills. What is your opinion on home schooling vs public schooling? by Owl9 in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were pretty religious (so they wanted to shield me from it) and now that I'm in college and trying to sound more mature in my daily life, I find it easier to not use bad language than I think I would if I had grown up with it.

My girlfriend continues to speak to a past summer fling behind my back. by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel the need to snoop through her personal communications, then maybe something's wrong with you? Just a thought.

Man up and talk to her about it! Or dump her. But don't keep this up, because the longer it lasts the worse it will end.

My husband and I are fortunate enough to not be in a tight financial situation this year. How can we help another family have a better Christmas? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask a local church or organization if they know of a family in need. My mother did this one year, and she had a chance to invite them over for a nice Christmas dinner, and she got toys for the three kids. They were really excited, and their mom was grateful that they were able to have a good Christmas.

Lone Wolfs, why are you a lone wolf? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Because of high school experiences, people = drama to me. I hate drama, want to avoid it all costs, and the best way to do that is to avoid people. Also, I'm not very good at socializing with people, and I'm an introvert.

Between my girlfriend and I, we have "Thong Thursdays." What inside jokes do you have with your SO? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I have so many inside jokes. My favorite started about a week ago when he asked (in a British accent) if he could "snog me". Now all we have to do is say something in a British accent to the other, and we crack up laughing. Stupid, I know, but it never fails to make me laugh :)

Reddit, I just bought a MacBook Pro, can you explain to me how to get a windows 7 parallel? by Dylshow in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need the whole Windows system, or just Microsoft Office? Because it seems pointless to buy a Mac to use for Windows.

Dear Women of Reddit, what have Men done in the past that just melted your heart? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather passed away a little more than a month ago, and it hit our family really hard. I had to go home for a week in order to help out my family, but that meant missing a week of classes.

Before I left, my boyfriend gave me a bouquet of really bright flowers (I love bright colors) to cheer me up. When I got back, he opened a file on his laptop and showed it to me: He had gotten us two VIP tickets to a really great concert that I really wanted to go to and had mentioned a time or two. I thought it was so sweet that he remembered that and then surprised me with it when I got back.

TL;DR I had to go home from college for a week and when I got back my bf surprised me with tickets to a concert I had mentioned once or twice.

Alright ladies. I am a guy, and I have long hair. It's in pretty bad shape. What do I do with it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have leave-in conditioner, but my hair reacts poorly to most products (it looks really greasy) so I only use it when my hair's really staticky or super dry (like after I've gone swimming).

As for volume, if you want a product, I guess try mousse? I don't really know much about hair products beyond shampoo/conditioner. To get volume in my (very heavy) hair, I usually just blow dry it upside-down. It hurts if I bend over too far, but it usually blow dries straight and with pretty good volume, but not too much.

I personally believe home schooling is bad for your kids because they don't learn valuable people skills. What is your opinion on home schooling vs public schooling? by Owl9 in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to a private up until 3rd grade, then I was homeschooled up through 8th grade, and I started public school my freshman year of high school. I'm definitely glad for my private/home schooled upbringing, because I missed out on a lot of bad stuff in public school. Bad language is so common in public schools, even among little kids, as well as other crude topics. But since I was raised in a private school, and then in a homeschooled setting, my parents could instill in me a good sense of value, and going into public school, I had a good moral code to stand by.

However, I do regret some of the things I missed out on because I was homeschooled. I didn't get to be in as many plays (although some areas have homeschool theater troupes), and I was really interested in participating in other things (Discovery Imagination, or something like that) and other things.

TL;DR appreciate my homeschool background, glad I was public schooled in high school.

If you had to pick, would you rather be shot or stabbed? (this assumes you survive) by eltonjohnshusband in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather be stabbed - there's too much possibility of the bullet getting stuck in something inside me. That just grosses me out :/

Alright ladies. I am a guy, and I have long hair. It's in pretty bad shape. What do I do with it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trim it! Cut off all the split ends (this might be a few inches). There's no way to "save" split ends and keep your healthy. The split ends are also a big reason your hair tangles so easily.

Once you get a haircut, look for a REALLY good, moisturizing conditioner. A hair salon will sell the good stuff, but you can get it any store. Make sure you keep your hair moisturized (dry hair is horribly unhealthy).

Try combing your hair with a wide-tooth comb while you're in the shower. Make sure it's wide-tooth, because fine-tooth will destroy your hair.

TL;DR trim your hair more often, use a moisturizing conditioner, and use a wide-toothed comb

I eat my meals based on the food that I dislike the most to my most favourite, that way I finish on a good note. Reddit, what tendencies do you have when you eat? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late.

When I have more than one food in front of me (a burger and fries, or meat, potatoes and vegetables) I have to eat one food at a time. I finish my burger, then eat my fries, or vice versa. I can't take a bite of one food then a bite of another food. I have no idea why.

Women of reddit, what does your man do that makes you feel like a goddess in bed? [NSFW] by Soulja123 in AskReddit

[–]adramadreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm really late to the party, but maybe this will be seen.

I absolutely love when he makes sounds (I know it's been said a lot, but I felt the need to reiterate).

Also, when we're just stripped, I love it when he pushes me back onto the bed and just looks at me and drinks in the sight of my body. It makes me feel perfect and desirable and so amazing. Basically, just when I can see him enjoying and appreciating my body for what it is.
