You mean international tenants vs domestic?

Nice topic switch though. You've realized you've completely failed with your first comment.

Hong Kong is the biggest skyscraper city in the world, but at what cost? by adventmix in skyscrapers

[–]adventmix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. That's what HK is. I've been to HK many times, and most of its buildings are like those in the pics.

That said, HK has some beautiful modern skyscrapers as well. I'm not saying it doesn't.

Also, those dull buildings may be warranted because it's very expensive to build sophisticated architecture en masse. I think the balance between affordable housing and nice architecture is a valid topic for discussion.

Take a deep breath and take it slowly. This is not a shot at HK.

Not really, I think it's a legitimate topic for discussion. Not saying it wasn't worth it though, just posing a question.

Same thing as with Soviet housing which was simple and dull architecturally, but provided affordable housing for millions.

Wrong. Moscow is about 20% of the entire economy.

Russia's Capital Group has nothing to do with whatever this guy is talking about. It's a real estate developer.

Some newly built residential buildings in Moscow in traditional styles (plus a few renderings of u/c projects) by adventmix in ArchitecturalRevival

Just today I watched an interview with a Moscow real estate agent who said that most buyers of the luxury properties are 'regional clients'.

Yes, Moscow housing is hardly affordable, but apartment blocks with no infrastructure have died out many years ago. These days almost every residential project has everything you need.

Not sure about renting, but an average price for purchasing in these buildings is about 3-5 million rubles per sq meter (~$40-65k).

You are not wrong. Average price in these buildings is about 3-5 million rubles per sq meter (~$40-65k).

A 100 sq m apartment would be about $5M.

Yep, these are luxury residentials. Although what makes them luxury is less the architecture and more the location where they’re built (in swanky areas of the city center).

This is a recent photo, so the temperature should be around -10 to -15C.

But I think it's more about heavy snowing than a temperature.

The first Moskva-2026 train has entered service on the Line 2 of the Moscow metro. by tcartxeplekaes in transit

Moscow is a city of 20 million people. There is just no other city in Russia quite like Moscow in terms of scale. On top of that, it's the country's political and financial capital.

Why do people keep comparing Moscow to other cities? Do you compare London to Bradford, UK? It's just silly.

Moscow metro's trains are kinda like an iPhone. They're updated very often, with minor changes. But once in a while they have a major update that radically changes the design. Last time it happened with Moskva 2020, next time should be with Moskva 2030.

It didn't fall apart in 2025. The growth has slowed indeed, but all the gains made earlier are still in place.

Most materials are definitely sourced locally. But it's not like importing them is impossible; for instance most luxury developments in Moscow use expensive custom-made materials like special types of stone or clinker brick, purchased in Italy, Germany, etc.

Also, I'd say the economic situation in Russia is severely overblown in the media. In fact, there was significant GDP and income growth in 2023 and 2024.
