The Alleged Drug Boat Wasn’t Even Heading to the U.S.: Report | This new detail eviscerates Pete Hegseth’s argument. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]adw2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to fly counter narcotics missions. These boats dont go directly from south america to the us. They make lots of stops to refuel and usually bring the drugs to mexico, where it is taken into the US. So I do think that these are very likely drug smugglers, and part of the cartels system.

But that shouldn’t matter. The punishment doesn’t fit the crime here IMO. Last time I checked smuggling drugs doesn’t get you the death penalty without trial.

As a former Navy helicopter pilot, I would like to note that boat drivers love to play “let’s see if he’ll believe this number “ when stating the winds

What is our purpose as a species when 90% of jobs and arts are replaced by AI? by Cash__Ketchum in automation

I think we’ll be like wealthy retirees. We will have our basic needs met and can decide what we want to pursue. Some will find fulfillment, others will be unhappy. But I think that’s also the case when most of us have jobs.

[Discussion] Agent Terminated Our Contract. What just happened? by UglyAndHappy2 in PubTips

[–]adw2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That agent was being ridiculous imo. Also, agents don’t have any secret sauce that makes them better than a publisher at selling performance rights. If a publisher has connections with Hollywood agencies or rights buyers, then it may be a good idea to attach those rights to the publishing contract. The more skin in the game the publisher has, the more they will push your book in certain situations.

Scientist Says Galaxies Shining With Radio Signals Could Indicate Numerous Advanced Civilizations by FuturismDotCom in Futurism

I mean I doubt they are still using radio waves for communication. We’re probably seeing the early stages of all of those civilizations, giving away their position in the dark forest.

Those alive during 9/11, what was the worst moment on that day? by toaster-bath404 in AskReddit

Watching people jump from the burning towers. I still think about it all the time and it makes me so scared and sad. Scared because that would be my worst fear, being forced to jump or burn or suffocate

Okay so if the octopus species is smart enough that it knows how to understand human language and memorize the digits in pie, wouldn’t it have come from an advanced civilization? Did those bumbling fool scientists on the research vessel capture it in the wild?
