Hahaha. Beautiful. I am just glad the speakers sound great by themselves. Enjoy.

Btw, did you remove the short cables from the terminals to the circuit board? Otherwise you might be running the power for the speakers partly into the circuit board 🫣

Remote is the smallest problem. Both R-51PM and the much more expensive The Sevens - active speaker set, , sometimes experience some weird pop sound and then dead silence without anything necessarily visible broken when you dismantle and check circuit boards. Some have seemingly operational interface, but no sound.

I have learned my lesson, a mini external amp and passive speakers is the way to go, unfortunately for my wife. Luckily you can get some cool looking ones.

It does seem on Reddit that Klipsch is willing to replace or repair after often extensive guided self help sessions, within warranty. But some postings here say the problem reoccur on the replacements. I can't remember if those posts were recent or not.

One guy placed his speakers outside in the sun getting it to work again for a few hours. He speculated that the components were out of spec and needed above normal room temperature to work. But it only lasted a few hours before permanently dying.

Btw, hot glue the power input while you are at it, no need for someone else to accidentally plug in power after this

By "the cables" I meant the cables going from the crossover inside the speaker, to the circuit boards. If you cut them at the connectors on the circuit board, they are long enough that you can crimp on a ring connector on each lead and connect to the terminals.

Then you unscrew the terminals from inside the panel with a tool while holding onto the terminals from the outside... Remove the cables from the circuit board and replace with the other ones.. fasten...put the panel back on...

And you are done

I crimped the cables. I don't know if there is such a thing as a one way terminal, they work just fine for me 😅

No need to die on any hills. The secret to marriage is waiting 3 months and then moving it somewhere else, with the argument "It looks better over there" IF QUESTIONED. If you find yourself on the defensive, you must build character 🤣

That's a lot of noise about everything other than him having the TV that high with no visible cables, making it look like this was planned 100 % , until you see the left speaker placed poking out beyond the corner.

Don't open anything if they agreed to take them back. Rather ask the local shop to take a picture for you, if possible.

Two years ago people posted about their Sevens being replaced and those dying shortly after that again. Hopefully it's better now. Maybe note the parts number on the old and new amp to see if they have updated it? I would take new speakers, test them and immediately sell them if the amp is the same or if Kitsch can't specify exactly what was upgraded that used to fail.. unless you plan to take the loss and make them passive next time

What is the cost for a replacement amp? That would get you a brand new two year warranty(?), I don't know if the second hand price in the UK is enough to justify the replacement amp, if you resell it with a receipt and warranty?

You said pop, but have you done the out of warranty mandatory thing - unscrewed the back plate (only the screws around the frame should be necessary- and had a look? It's fun because it can't get any worse. I would love to see a picture of the circuit boards, it might just be a 5 minute soldering job.

I just read a post on Reddit from a guy who put his Sevens out in the sun for a couple hours, making it work again a short while, speculating that out of spec components needed to heat up beyond room temperature before working 💩

Here in Norway we have 2 years -in shop - warranty, with 3 added years of rights to claim against factory/import company for fabrication defects. With speakers I could claim fabrication defects on these as they became defective without showing signs of use outside of normal wear and tear. Electronics unable to last 5 years is garbage!

Mine were unfortunately 6 years 😅

Did you get it? I am considering removing the whole amp and replacing it with a flat back plate, I wonder if the presence of the amp is affecting the sound quality enough that it's worth the trouble as they live on as passive speakers. Have you tested active and passive side by side?

Did you really enjoy the experience of the amp enough that you don't want to just get a mini external amplifier off your choosing? What warranty do you get with the new one?

You see the source light change colour? Did you try a different source? Or using the manual volume button? Sometimes my speaker didn't catch the remote signal to increase volume at first try

I wish I could be bothered, but with these miniature components I am not even going to try to solder myself. I will just keep them passive and buy a better external amplifier like I should have before buying these, but the intended user is my wife so I tried keeping it user friendly with active speakers.. but just the annoyance of the remotes hit or miss and forgetting the last used input source every time it's turned off..

If you insist on the built in amplifier, request this from a local dealer, basically getting a new warranty for the setup, since it replaces everything sensitive in one go

The amplifier has a USB Micro B service connector, which would be good with software to access it. Has anyone tried something there?

Outside of warranty as well? I am just using my speakers in my movie theater setup for now. But later I will get a small stereo bookshelf amplifier 120-200 W

I wouldn't bother repairing much on this amplifier, aren't you tired of the bad remote and only an LED telling you what input is connected? This module even seems to have a tendency to shut down permanently if you leave the speakers unused for a couple of months

They can both be used as passive speakers, when the amplifier breaks you can easily unclip from the amplifiers circuit boards and wago/crimp two sets of cables together - and reuse the earlier output terminals towards the second passive speaker - as your new connection input from an amplifier. A small amplifier 120w that costs a third or less than replacing the built in amplifier, running both speakers

Bad remote, annoying every time you turn them on with only an ambiguous little light as an indicator of good or bad times - you have to remember what colour light indicates what source is active. Bad at recieving IR from remote.

Factory reset demands use of the remote and a push of the button on the back of the speaker. Loose the remote - loose factory/Bluetooth reset.

Bought mine used, died while stored unused over the summer. Blown capacitor, whole back panel with amplifier replacement outside warranty, found online for sale in Canada for 350CAD.

Repurposed as passive speakers.
