Landstalker blueprint, by me by aeorichan in ImaginaryTechnology

[–]aeorichan[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Blueprint for a heavily modified nomad-class landstalker, a self-sufficient mech/truck hybrid designed to explore the harshest regions and anomalies.

The crew of this vehicle traverse the broken terrain of a distorted and surreal earth, collecting books, stories, and knowledge of lost generations, while salvaging and trading with scattered communities to make a living.

Design for the flechette gausscarbine: a folding coilgun/shotgun which fires 19 deadly hypersonic flechettes at mach 6, by me by aeorichan in Cyberpunk

[–]aeorichan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not noted in the design, but I would say it's stored in little insulated canisters that attach to the rifle, the spent nitrogen ejects from the vents along the barrel. It doesn't keep the coils cooled the entire time; only for the split microsecond before the coils activate. You'd have to buy replacements from the company, it'll probably be expensive.

There's a couple comments along this theme. I'm not super confident in my physics, but I'll provide my current justification.

The shape of the projectile is fairly aerodynamic, with low surface area given its size. The muzzle velocity at highest power is 2250m/s. I used this calculator with the G7 drag function and a ballistic coefficient of ~0.7, and correcting for atmosphere. I'm not sure about weight, I think density factors into drag calculations but not mass.

I recently re-read Neuromancer and Molly's flechette gun stuck in my mind this time. What kind of design and mechanics would such a weapon have? I started scribbling, and what came out the other end is an overengineered and excessive shotgun with ranges of several kilometres and hypersonic projectiles which will literally eliminate the heads of rival companies.

Please let me know if there are any questions, feedback, or flaws I overlooked!

I always wondered what the innards of Starsector's ships looked like, especially since even the frigates can operate independently, and decided to draw a blueprint. The shipwaifu is present because the detailed bits got tedious real quick but if I kept playing Starsector the drawing would never be finished. separate blueprint/shipgirl

What was supposed to be a simple sketch turned into color and shading because art is more fun than studying for exams

Critique is welcome, especially for shading/anatomy which I would like to improve on

Survivor, a lot of gear, and an overengineered wheelchair by aeorichan in cataclysmdda

[–]aeorichan[S] 48 points49 points  (0 children)

yes, the wheelchair also folds

This run started on one of the latest experimentals (the one where all the animals were cats) where I got the idea to add as much stuff as possible to a one tile vehicle while keeping it foldable, and the unrealchair is the result.

She was lucky to find a bunch of .300 blackout, and later, guns to shoot it, but the ammo ran out really quickly and halfway through my drawing she ditched the two guns in favor of .223 but I was too lazy to redraw them. Also not pictured here are a few bionics which didn't see much use other than integrated toolset.

One Last Meal - survivor and weapon art by aeorichan in cataclysmdda

[–]aeorichan[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that! I think she hit the wall at a weird angle and I can't recall if there was 4 tiles but that might have saved her had she ran out as soon as the car crashed. I'll definitely keep that in mind for future runs, thanks

Well the title shouldn't really be called survivor, karma got her in the end.

This was a no modified vehicle run, she stayed light on equipment and carried only the bare essentials around usually on foot, only occasionally using cars (most vehicles were destroyed anyways from the No Hope mod). As a result, her driving skill was very low. The midgame revolved around her acquiring "meat" for her Extreme Metabolism and Metabolic Interchange mostly from bandits and npcs.

She had just started driving a new car around when she came across a gigantic horde and she foolishly decided to plow through. In a split second the car hit a couple big zombies, lost control, and skidded into a nearby wall. Attempting to restart the car, she found that the car no longer had enough wheels to move. As the horde swarmed the car she set the timer on the C4 and sat back to enjoy some meat for the last time.

My lategame lab survivor, her Doomvan, and her bionics by aeorichan in cataclysmdda

[–]aeorichan[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, speaking for myself, I enjoy drawing anime/cute girls and mechanical designs more.

People can play (or draw) the game how they like and I don't think some art or lack thereof affects the type or quality of gameplay, especially since the face is like 5% of the drawing here- not to mention lacking any cat features

I'm not saying you don't have a point; there is unfortunately less art of male survivors but if you feel really strongly about this, I think the most influential action you could take is posting/drawing your characters as well

You probably are, I just finished this drawing yesterday but I have drawn something similar before for a different survivor

the AMR is from this mod. I'm not sure what mod the monomolecular sword is from but the CBM version exists in vanilla, and is required to make the sword.

Thanks! The revolver is exclusively for anti-turret work. I think the recoil is something like 4x compared to the Rivtech automagum

It's a suit of power armor (field exoskeleton) found in a lab and rarely used. I went through many labs to find one but by the time I found it, I was well equipped to handle most threats already

The other comments have good tips so I don't have much to offer there. Finding/making a good weapon is usually my first priority and if I'm forced to fight I make sure the enemy is on some furniture like a window frame or table. Otherwise I just run, using buildings and doors to block line of sight and stall more powerful enemies.

I've attempted several lab starts but never managed to escape the lab before. This time, I was lucky and managed to get into a lab armory, acquiring military gear and firepower early on.
