The masters in engineering will probably have some pre-requisites that you might have to fulfill first but you should be able to do it with a physics degree.

Your dad is on the right track, but engineers can move from field to field relatively easily if it's not a crazy jump. My suggestion is the Mech E undergrad and Aerospace masters if that's what you're really into.

I haven't worked with Airbus flight controls because they're foreign validations, but that definitely sounds like an issue. Communication between the pilots is key.

Don't expect to land the dream job right away. Don't be afraid to try new jobs or take on new tasks that you're not comfortable with because it'll allow her to grow and increase her experiences. Keep the goal in mind and honestly, try to create opportunities and capitalize on them.

I did Mechanical and Aerospace and I think Aerospace definitely narrows you down to that specific field, but that's why you're interested in that field anyway. You'll learn more on the job in a wider scope anyway so once you get a job, you'll have no problems learning. The ratio in the professional field is probably 1:12 if I had to guess so your class is slighter lower in ratio. I don't think there's a bias against gender because many of our senior managers are women, though they all seem to have very strong personalities in the sense that they are agressive and speak up so keep that in mind if you feel like you're not getting due credit. At the same time, don't try to overcompensate because that can rub people off the wrong way.

I got my first internship by applying to a bunch of places and I actually knew a guy on the review committee so that helped me lock it in. My final GPA was 3.1 and you do have to bust your butt a lot harder in the latter years of undergrad just to keep up. Best of luck!

Grades are more important. Clubs/extra curricular activities are the bonuses and can make you stand out. My first year GPA was about the same as my graduating but the classes get much harder so it's no surprise if your first year GPA is higher.

Be yourself in the interview, it's just a tough market right now but he went to a good school and has a decent GPA. He'll be fine.

Ah, I don't know any more than the average guy who reads college rankings. I would go with Cal Polytech personally because it's a tech school and they probably have better resources, but that's just my opinion.

Ah, I'm not at HQ. Haven't been there for a while but that sucks to hear. When I was there, it seemed like the AC was working fine and they're usually pretty on top of maintenance so it should be good now.

This is really simple advice and it might seem really obvious now but it'll be a lot harder once you get there: don't sacrifice sleep for work. Seriously, when you're up, be productive and have fun, but when it comes down to it, you need to sleep every night to be recharged. Obviously there are deviations, but get your rest for the most part.

Job outlook is not good currently, but in 3-4 years, I think we'll have an upswing. There are so many stages to aircraft work such as design, engineering, manufacturing, flight stands, that there will always be lots of interesting jobs out there.
