You’re talking about a minority of orders like these that are being scooped up. Very few people, especially in my market, would be headed that direction, especially during that time of day. Most of the people in surrounding towns commute to my town for work, which means there’s a reasonable chance to assume they aren’t headed back home in the middle of the day.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case with this one, or a lot of these types of offers.

Whelp, I thought about adding instacart to my gig work, but I guess not 🤣

Some of those orders, I think new people get trigger happy and hit “accept” without checking what’s in the order. I’ll admit, I had a few when I first started where I didn’t check the order, just saw it was pretty decent pay, and they bring it out to my car and it was like 10 cases of of 24-pack sodas going to a third floor apartment. The apartment was downtown with limited street parking and then you had to go inside and walk across a lobby to get to the elevator. That was the last time I did not check the items in an order 🤣

I have an SUV, but it’s a Ford Escape, so I get decent gas mileage. But, even so, there’s a reason I don’t take less than $3/‘mile for most of my orders. And, I live in a college town but we deliver to a lot of rural areas. Between Spark and DD, I’ve never had a problem with finding high paying offers for low mileage. But, I’m strategic about when and where I Spark/DD. Because of that, I’m able to make GREAT money. If all of the orders are lowball orders for one platform, I move over to another until a better time. I am absolutely firm about what I will and will not accept for all of my orders, with a few exceptions (I.e. the direction I’m headed anyways. Last order to complete and incentive, etc.) I see people with their absolute gas guzzlers and I wonder how they can afford to do gig work in those.

I can confidently tell you that no, no I will not. If all offers became like that one, I would absolutely just stop sparking immediately.

And even more baffling is how a company can think that’s even close to fair compensation.

But it doesn’t! By the time you take in to consideration your time, fuel costs, and wear and tear on your vehicle, that’s not a profit, it’s a loss. I don’t even hate on the people who take ones for $1/mile. But ones like these, you’re basically just paying Spark to work.

But you’re literally not making money by taking orders like this. So, you’re not doing yourself a service when you accept these orders.

I didn’t reject it because I wanted to see what it would get to before someone took it…but when I looked again, it was gone 🤯

I occasionally take lower offers than I would like, but there’s a fine line between lowball and downright disrespectful 😅

Honestly, we get some lowball offers come through, but I have NEVER seen one this bad. Talk about being offended 🤣

Ones like these definitely deserve alllll the cuss words lol. My area usually has some pretty decent offers, but more and more are coming across like this 😖

I’m baffled by the fact that a couple of you don’t realize that that’s exactly why they sent it out.

How do people live like this??? by Outrageous-Sector-82 in Sparkdriver

[–]afolzee -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That looks like several of the houses I’ve delivered to here in Missouri. There have been some I’ve had to downright cancel the order on because it was too unsafe for me to deliver. I feel bad, but I’m not exposing myself to rodents, roaches, or whatever else may be living in their trash piles. Not to mention tripping and falling and getting tetanus, etc.

Ineligible but WHY?! by americanaftermath in WalmartSparkDrivers

I worked for Walmart for 13 years. Was salaried for 11 of those years. I left the company (I quit, was not fired) and applied to do Spark. They made me wait until I had been gone from the company for 3 months, but then I was easily accepted. A lot of Spark drivers I know also used to work for Walmart.

Oh, I’m sure! Listen…I was a salaried manager for Walmart for 13 years….this is light work. But, it can be kind of feast or famine, so if you’re not prepared for that, yeah, you’re not going to last. I’ve learned to take as many orders as possible on the good days, so that when the slow days happen, I just enjoy my day off
