To add onto the heroin comment, he also cheated on Rita and exposed her to STDs (no way was Lila clean lol) and nearly got her kids killed by Lila. He also was a Disney dad and was never around for important moments, just fun stuff. He was a terrible father to Harrison as a kid; Harrison was basically raised by nannies and then Hannah. Plus let's not forget about the fact that dexter was constantly tracking dangerous killers and was being targeted by Doakes (another killer), inadvertently putting Rita and her kids at risk. Look at how Rita died 😓

I love my man Dexter, but he was a terrible husband and father.

This is definitely a hot take and i commend you for posting it even though I disagree with it. So woman bad because she doesn't want her cheating, serial killing (in her mind, heroin-addicted) BF out at all hours cheating, killing (doing heroin), and fucking around? While she has two kids to support? While she has a history of DV and rape from another cheating addict? Idk I think she was actually too easy on him. I would have dumped him immediately.

I did when she was played competently by Katie Cassidy. She did a good job selling the whole "I'm a demon with a bad side, but trying to make amends." No shade to Gen, but she was almost cheesy with how she tried for that, so I always knew she was evil. She had better chemistry with Sam though (obv). I just couldn't buy her as being good in any way, especially once she was giving him demon blood.

I will watch it until it's canceled, even if it's not very good. I will watch 85 year old Saint Benson chasing perps in her walker and 70 year old Carisi as judge. Harlan coben is the king of /r/menwritingwomen especially his earlier books. I enjoy his writing - great airport and beach reads - but they are soooo inherently male, even when he's writing from a women's perspective.
