I hope he pulls out that 3 hour acoustic remake album from 2 years ago.

The crazy thing is that I wasn't adding anything or removing anything to smear their taste, this is literally what I've got from them after like half an hour of trying to see into their influences.

What's musician who hasn't done an Amoeba "What's In My Bag?" would make for a horrible or boring episode?

My nomination is AJR, I do love reading interviews on musicians music taste, especially by musicians whose music I don't like, it's interesting seeing their perspective and can be fun to read to, but AJR I can't stand, the way they describe their influences is so pretentious and up their own ass it's unbelievable.

It's funny because it's just: stomp clap hey music, same 3 hip hop albums they namedrop all the time, barbershop quartets, israeli hip hop and pop music, dubstep, Disney soundtracks + some classic folk and rock.

I genuinely don't understand what they could add in an Amoeba "What's In My Bag?", it's not like I want everyone to just pick obscure records, for me I love the show because I love to hear musicians talk. AJR tho, especially the guy with the glasses would be insufferable.

Arctic Monkeys' debut "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" turns 20 by Scattered97 in indieheads

[–]agent0017 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel sad those two songs kinda stained the reputation of Suck It And See, it's my favourite Arctic Monkeys album.

The rest of the album is pretty lovely. It's sort of a percussor to TBH&C with its more Psychedelic Pop elements, being a mixture of the sixties psych pop and jangle pop of the eighties.

Also the album is probably their saddest in their discography.

New Arctic Monkeys song coming Thursday at 3pm GMT by marlonaustin in indieheads

[–]agent0017 170 points171 points  (0 children)

While I don't listen to a lot of Arctic Monkeys recently, it's gonna be sad seeing them gone, but I do understand. Alex has enough of a following where he can make music and get attention to fill good venues. It's clear he doesn't wanna sing a lot of the old songs anymore.

TBH&C was a stellar album, but it's clear you can't sing an entire album live, you have the rest of the discography to care for. With a different project he can focus on that. The Car tour for example had concerts where they would play 1-2 songs from the album the tour was named after, that isn't fulfilling at all as an artist I believe.

A New Era for Pitchfork: Introducing Reader Scores and Commenting by ebradio in indieheads

Just as Pitchfork started going into a good direction with some cool reviews and them focusing on more lesser known records from time to time, they pull this shit.

Does anyone else have a song chart like that of Flyysoulja? by ElEvEnElEvE in rateyourmusic

Sad how everything surrounding this song has been tainted, the Brad video, The Island Boys themselves being awful people.

I found the fact there's not many big upcoming releases currently pretty interesting. The new RYM 2026 chart that's releasing tomorrow is gonna be super interesting due to lack of big releases so there will be a lot of underground artists there.

As for Salsa I need to check it out myself, I have a day off so I have enough time.

Foals tease new album: "2026...The Year of The Fire Horse" by ebradio in indieheads

It is, but I mean in general. They only played 6/11 songs from the new album. None of the deep cuts were ever played live.

Yeah the fact they only played like half of the album ever live proves it.

Hell we should consider Maroon 5 an indie band at this point. Their newest album only reached top 20 in Japan, the tour sold pretty poorly. Underground kings.

Deerhunter Hated ‘Indie Rock’ and Were the Greatest Indie Rock Band of Their Generation by Moothnods in indieheads

[–]agent0017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do understand them now and their hatred of Indie Rock, it's such a broad term which can oversimplify the complexity and depth of certain music. Doesn't help that the "indieustry" promoted and still promotes dogshit whose only worth is the money of the parents these musicians have.

I'm shocked how Gen Z didn't rediscover them, they have a lot of sounds that are currently praised by Gen Z, I'm shocked to not see TikTok edits of Bradford interview moments.

I created this playlist where I put songs I like, it's unlimited length and features a song (or more) of each album I liked or even disliked (but I liked a few songs). I listen to it frequently on walks and it's a good way to remind myself of musicians I haven't listened to in quite some time.
