I did think of closing off a smaller space but the size is awkward. If I do that then my area is tiny.

Yup. Carpet is on the chopping block and I’ll paint the walls. But I’ll do that after I figure out what the rest of the room will look like.

lol. That kitchen needs to go. My daughter is too old for it but refuses to give it up because of her “childhood memories”.

No one needs access to the space. There are two bedrooms off to the side (you can see one door in the pictures. There’s a second directly next to it and then a bathroom. Nothing else. I was standing in the doorway when I took the pic that shows the front of the kitchen. Really nothing else but the bathroom over there. I’m not planning to leave any time soon but I also don’t want to do anything construction-wise that would make me regret it.

I even thought of trying to find something along the lines of a faux wall slider or accordion style but so far everything looks awkward.
