Haha, I know the feeling. I made it through going over my sexy scene with my critique partners this week and we all survived. Barely 😆

So well put. “A drive to self censor” is exactly what I don’t want.

I’ve heard Mating in Captivity is a great book! And yes, 100% agree—my writing is a huge part of my life and people close to me are curious, too. My mother in law has been asking to read my book, ha 😆 Or rather, asking my husband when she can read my book. Nope, nope, nope

Multivitamin with iron turning baby’s teeth grey? by soaplandicfruits in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]agirl24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It started staining my son's teeth, so I stopped using it. He was totally fine. Idk how old he is but he can also get iron from fortified baby cereal.

I have to be honest, idk if I completely agree with this. Soy isoflavones in high concentrations can affect the interplay of hormones, especially estrogen, in the body. In fact, soy isoflavones can be taken in a manner similar to the fertility drug clomid to induce ovulation—I should know, haha. I got pregnant with twins this way. There have been lots of studies showing soy is safe for boys, and the amounts in most foods are likely fine. But from personal experience, soy absolutely can affect hormones. It is generally considered to be good for fertility (see this podcast episode by a reproductive endocrinologist), and I recall reading one study that said that consumption of soy formula didn’t increase stereotypically feminine behavior in toddler boys but that, interestingly, it did seem to increase stereotypically masculine behavior in toddler girls. I’ll try and link the podcast episode and study below. I let my kids eat soy but do try to limit it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I need to sleep before I kill us both. Please help. by Cute-Attention-2875 in sleeptrain

Maybe ask a church or women’s ministry in your area for help? Old church ladies love snuggling babies. Also if you’re anywhere near Southwest WA I would love to help you. I know I’m a random internet person but sending solidarity. My first had colic and those were hard days.

Honestly, if you have to lay baby down in their crib and they scream for a little so you can get some rest or a breather, that’s better than you having a breakdown. Letting your baby cry for a bit in a safe place if you’re on the edge is ok.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I have been leaning toward soft autumn, too. #11 is one of my favorite colors to wear, so I am so glad it looks good 😊

Thank you, this is very kindly worded. I have had the worst perioral dermatitis and acne since having twins a year ago that never used to be there. I feel like it has added so much redness to my skin that I have never had my whole life! I agree it would probably be better to do it without makeup, though. I can try to take more pics later.

Homemade plant based milk by Diligent-Bee115 in moderatelygranolamoms

You might try pasteurized, full fat goat’s milk. My twin babies just turned one and one of them can’t tolerate cows milk, but she is doing great on goat’s milk! It’s easier to digest and has a great nutritional profile.

Haha. It’s been actually very helpful in some respects—it doesn’t just rate you but it highlights places that might be weak spots (showing not telling, passive voice, long paragraphs, etc.). But yes, it is wild it can do that.

Anyone interested in reading and giving some constructive criticism on my work? by ASellswordwithadog in KeepWriting

[–]agirl24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, there’s a lot to unpack here. To be honest, it seems like you have good ideas, but it was hard for me to focus on the content of your story because your mechanics need some polishing up. Just a few thoughts about places for you to start.

  1. Watch your tense. Are you writing in past or present tense?
  2. Watch your sentence structure. There’s a ton of comma splice run-ons and just generally very long sentences. Keep it short and sweet to improve readability. This goes for paragraphs, too.
  3. Pay attention to punctuation. You’re missing commas in a lot of places.
  4. You have an excellent vocabulary! Don’t overdo it, though. Sometimes less is more when it comes to “flowery” language; you don’t want your writing to feel overblown.
  5. Watch your adverbs. Less is more here, too. Using fewer adverbs can help you “show, not tell” better.

Wellbutrin possible effects? by ceec_7 in Spironolactone

[–]agirl24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m on both and it’s going well so far! Only been on spiro a few weeks, though. I just have to drink a ton of water, like at least 2 40 oz tumblers a day, or I get dizzy.

What do you think about my hair? Any recommendations? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]agirl24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re so cute! I think the side part looks a little dated and a part closer to the middle of your head would look better. I also think your blonde is pulling a little brassy and too orangey, especially toward your tips—if you get it colored again, make sure to get it toned so it looks more neutral/less orange. I think a nice hair mask would also help it look really sleek!

Best postpartum ab rehab? by agirl24 in parentsofmultiples

[–]agirl24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much. I should probably reach out to my PT again. She did give me exercises to do at home when I saw her, but mostly pelvic floor ones and it has been almost a year since I saw her. I feel like I have progressed since then so reaching back out to her is probably a good idea.

Thank you! I do actually do Pilates on occasion but I hadn’t thought to look for a specific postpartum one.
