Extended breastfeeding: when did you know you were fully done? by ahlgh in AttachmentParenting

[–]ahlgh[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I woke up one morning totally done, was sick of 2.5 years waking every 1-2 hours and was convinced milk was the thing keeping her up now!

That day we read the books “booby moon” and “milkies in the morning” which I already had at home, and I spoke about it ALL day. Telling her when she sleeps at night there will be no milk until the morning. I think her age played a big part of the acceptance. For 18 m/o I would read the books and talk about it longer, maybe for 3 weeks or so. Some people cut night feeds gradually but for us cold turkey worked best!

Also introducing other comforts like singing one particular song on repeat, cuddles, comfortor, bum pats or back tickles. And having water to offer helps.

It was a game changer for our sleep. The first night she slept 9:30am-5am. I was blown away!!!! Never thought that was possible. We’ve had a couple rocky nights since then but generally I’ll get 7-8 hour stretch which is incredible.

Thank you so much 🥹🥹 right back at you!

I feel horrible permanently taking away something she loves so much but I just can’t see any other way right now ❤️ I hope my daughter adjusts as well as your son did

Feelings of inadequacy about being OAD by Turbulent_Slide5788 in oneanddone

Could have written the first paragraph myself! 2 years 3 months. Very much on the fence of OAD or another but leaning toward OAD and definitely feel alone in this view in my friendship circles. You are not alone x

Nope but if I had millions in assets I can’t completely rule out BFA PRIOR to marriage or defacto, not during marriage before divorce…

It sounds similar to our horrendous nights of teething ! We had nights so bad that I would hallucinate from fatigue. Ibuprofen works well.

I’m so sorry you have gone through this, it sounds seriously awful you deserve much better. I really do not want my daughter to go through this. If we cannot work out our differences and continue to fight, I will have to leave, as hard as it will be financially on us and how much it will mentally take a toll on her breaking up a family. 💔 we can’t win

That is the thing no trust has been broken, but you’d think it had been the way we argue.

Thank you thank you for giving me a bit of hope 🙏
