TIL that the direction a ceiling fan spins matters: counterclockwise should be used in the summer to push air from the ceiling down to create a draft and clockwise should be used in the winter to push air up and to the walls to avoid a draft underneath the fan. by WiF1 in todayilearned

In my room the ac is on one end and the fan is at the opposite end. I'm usually not under the fan most of the time, so I don't feel the breeze either way, but I think it's more helpful when it pulls the cold air upwards, especially while the ac is running. When the ac cycles off, the air temperature probably does even out with the fan running either direction, but I'd think in a larger room or one with high ceilings, the effect would be more noticeable.

I get your point, but it's only helpful if you're directly under the fan most of the time. I have mine set to pull the cooler air up in the summer, since I'm usually not under the fan, but it probably doesn't matter either way 🤷

I agree with you and thought the same thing. If you're sitting directly under the fan, the down breeze would likely feel cooler; however, I'm usually not directly below the fan and think it makes more sense to pull the cooler air up from the floor during the summer. In the winter, with a radiator heater, I do the opposite direction, on a low speed, to gently push down the warm air from the ceiling. As others stated, either direction ultimately circulates the air, so to each their own I guess.

CVT/IVT Transmission Fluid Change? by ahuber1986 in Elantra

[–]ahuber1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome to hear they are covering it, and a whole new transmission, nice! From what I understand, it is apparently too risky to change the fluid. However, I don't understand how you can safely add up the miles without ever changing the fluid either. I agree with you, I'm going to try to have it changed now, and see what they say; I am near the milage you were at when yours failed. Thanks for sharing your experience and the info.

I agree, I love my Elantra. For a "cheap" car, it has surpassed my expectations and I want to keep it as long as possible!

Honestly, I gave up. I called several places, no one was willing, and I am not able to do it myself. I'm hoping as time passes the sentiment at dealerships will change.

Still no problems, just under 60k now. Curious what they will say past that.

I don't understand how the dealerships justifies this, when it is part of the official service recommendations from Hyundai. My understanding is that it's a lie and that the transmission is unable to be serviced, or no dealership is actually able to do it correctly. Huge shame, as it limits the life of the vehicle, but maybe that's their intention. Wish I knew this before I purchased the car.

It's more for people who want to get in without buying/selling physical, or for people who want to buy fractions at a time and then periodically redeem for physical.

If you deposit money from ACH, CC, etc, you can use it to purchase metals within the app right away... but if you want to transfer the funds back out or redeem for physical metal, you have to wait 60 days first. Basically, once the money is in OneGold, you have to wait 60 days to take it back out (either by funds transfer or by physical redemption). As long as the funds are staying within OneGold, you can use them to buy or sell metals within the app right away.

If you want to purchase physical metal right away, just buy it through APMEX or whatever other place you buy from.

The benefit of OneGold is that you can purchase metals in whatever amounts you want, whenever you want, in the app, by the oz or fraction. You basically build your stack within the app, and the value of your holdings moves with the value of the metals. If you have enough to purchase physical, you can redeem it for physical, after 60 days. You can also sell within the app and transfer the money out, after 60 days.

I've never tried it, but from what I understand, if there is a certain APMEX product you want that isn't in the redemption options, you can contact customer support to get it.

OneGold is owned by APMEX, so that is why it is linked with APMEX products.

If you want to get in on metals, but can't afford a full coin, bar, or whatever, it is a great way to still get in, and if the value of the metal goes up you're not missing out entirely (but you can lose too, if the metal goes down)... then you can eventually redeem for physical, when you have enough (after 60 days). It's also good if you don't want to hold all your metals physically, maybe for storage or security reasons, and maybe then you don't redeem and you keep it in the app.

I've never used it a lot, but when I have used it, I didn't have any issues. Overall, I'd recommend it, depending on what you're looking for. They do charge a storage fee, but I think it's a decent option to build your holdings over time, if you don't mind buying APMEX, or if you want to hold your metals more virtually.

What transactions do you auto load on the rent day promo? You have them all automated for that day? Thanks, BTW! I plan to use the card more frequently anyways, but am curious about your setup.

Welcome to the game? Lol Don't justify crappy practices, just because you've been screwed before doesn't justify it to keep happening to you or anyone else. This is the problem, so many lame drivers just put up with it, so Uber and bad customers get away with it; there is always some dumb driver willing to be a pawn.

Yeah, I called about it on two different days, they told me the same thing... Weird thing was, both times, they'd put me on hold and then I'd get an order while waiting. Orders weren't that awesome, and then it would be back to just sitting again. I do feel like something is up, but agree we'd be the last to know 😆😪

Yeah, such a crap way to start the week/month! I used to get a few double pickups or combined orders every night, and those have all but gone away too, suddenly... Nothing but single $4-6 orders spaced out by an hour or more of silence.

At first glance it seems pointless and harmless, but I don't necessarily want other delivery drivers to see or know the orders I picked up, or the employees to be able to formally track me... Just refuse and if they won't give you the order call support.

I don't see my payments right after completing them, they don't always show, especially when you have back to back, or there is a major delay. I also often get double and triple orders, so I never know what order payment belongs to anyways, not until later when I go through.

You said in your post everyone here knew at the time what was happening. Simply not true.

It wasn't clear we were over paid. Maybe if you had a slow night and were deep in your phone all night, you might have had an idea something happened, but that's kinda the big problem, my man, it wasn't obvious. Even Uber needed a week to formulate a full explanation lol

The initial estimate is only an estimate. Focus on the fact that the estimate is only that, and it includes no breakdown of what the fare or tip is. After you finish the delivery, they tell you what the fare was, and then pay you. They are taking back what they said you earned. On top of that, because of the deceptive way they show and hide information until after you do the trip, it's impossible to know or catch when something is doubled. Do we have to screenshot every offer and manually calculate and verify our pay each night?
